Pig prices in Central and Central Highlands regions increase; businesses are optimistic

Pig price today June 20

* The pig market in the North has not recorded any new price fluctuations.

Currently, Thai Binh province is anchored at the highest level in the region at 63,000 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam and Ninh Binh maintained purchasing live pigs at 59,000 VND/kg, the lowest in the region.

Today's live pig price in the North is between 59,000 - 63,000 VND/kg.

* Pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions increased.

Pig price increased by 2,000 VND/kg in Thanh Hoa province, to 62,000 VND/kg, the highest in the region.

Traders in Nghe An province still buy live pigs at 61,000 VND/kg.

Except for Lam Dong, which is currently anchored at 60,000 VND/kg, the remaining provinces maintain stable transactions in the range of 57,000 - 59,000 VND/kg.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 57,000 - 62,000 VND/kg.

* In the Southern region, the price of live pigs increased by 1,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, Tra Vinh and Ben Tre raised the price of live pigs to VND59,000/kg and VND60,000/kg, respectively.

The remaining provinces and cities have stable prices today.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 57,000 - 60,000 VND/kg.

* Mr. Le Xuan Huy, Deputy General Director of CP Vietnam Livestock Company, commented: "Compared to the average of previous years, the current price of live pigs is not low. However, due to the high price of input materials and production costs, the profits of livestock farmers have been narrowed and there have been periods of losses.

According to the management agency's report, the overall figure is increasing, but in reality, both businesses and households are reducing production. Therefore, pork prices are gradually recovering even though there has not been a sudden increase in purchasing power in the market."

Some other businesses also gave optimistic forecasts, saying that pork prices will continue to be adjusted this week and may soon return to 65,000 VND/kg.
