Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , representatives from several large retail chains in Vietnam said that sales of some older iPhone models have slowed down as the iPhone 17 launch date approaches.
Many consumers are waiting for new products, which leads to a decrease in purchasing power.

This trend is mainly observed with the iPhone 16 series. Meanwhile, sales of older devices such as the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 continue to maintain steady growth.
After several price adjustments, the selling price of the entire iPhone 16 product line has dropped to its lowest level since its launch in the Vietnamese market. For about a month now, the price of the iPhone 16 has remained almost unchanged.
Specifically, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is being offered at a price of 29.7 million VND for the 256GB version. The iPhone 16 Pro is priced at 24.7 million VND for the 128GB version.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are priced at VND 18.7 million and VND 21.8 million respectively for the 128GB versions. The lowest-priced model in the iPhone 16 lineup is the iPhone 16e, which costs VND 14.9 million for the 128GB version.
"After almost a year on the market, the iPhone 16 Pro Max remains the most popular version among Vietnamese users. It's highly likely this will continue with the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max," commented Mr. Nguyen Van Giau, representative of the Di Dong My mobile phone store chain.

According to plan, Apple will hold an "Awe Dropping" event on September 9th to introduce a new series of devices, with the highlight being the iPhone 17 line. The iPhone 17 is expected to come in four versions: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Alongside launching new products, Apple will also implement its familiar business strategy of discontinuing some older devices. This move aims to "clean up" its product portfolio, boost sales of new models, and has been successfully applied by Apple for many years.
Experts predict that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are likely to be discontinued. This is something that has happened before with previous Pro versions such as the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro.
