Lying at a low level of 22-23 million VND/ton from 2022 to the beginning of the 2023 latex harvest and lasting until October, rubber growers are discouraged. Many rubber farms have stopped tapping latex because they have to hire workers to tap latex, managers have increased investment costs, so if they tap latex, they will lose capital. Instead, some families with conditions fertilize the rubber trees to provide enough nutrients, waiting for the rubber price to increase before tapping. For small-scale growers, households still fertilize and tap latex for profit, instead of having to work for others. Mr. Le Van Thuan in La Da commune, Ham Thuan Bac, has more than 10 hectares of rubber trees that are producing latex, confided: At the beginning of the season, the latex price was only 22 million VND/ton, so not only my family but many other households stopped tapping because they had to hire workers for large areas, and the latex price was low, so the latex money was not enough to cover expenses. However, I still maintain fertilizing and taking care of the garden so that when the latex price increases, I can tap the tree's mouth to avoid the situation like previous years when the latex price at the beginning of the season was low but after more than half of the season, the price suddenly increased. Many rubber farms initially neglected to take care of the rubber trees, so when the latex price increased, they were unable to react in time because they did not have time to fertilize and take care of the rubber trees in advance. This year, the latex price was initially low but for more than a month, the latex price has increased. Currently, the latex price is at 29 - 30 million VND/ton, which is considered a fairly good price, and rubber growers have a stable profit. When the price increased to 27 million VND/ton, I opened the tree's mouth to collect the latex. Because the tree had a rest period before, the latex tapping was very good, the high yield made up for the income for several months of not tapping...

Explaining the increase in rubber prices, a rubber export market expert said: Although the world rubber consumption market fluctuates due to war and economic recession, the amount of imported goods is more limited than many years ago. However, due to low rubber prices, countries in the region that grow and exploit rubber limit exploitation, so productivity decreases. From here, at the end of the season, orders are not enough to export to partners, so units take advantage of collecting goods to have enough quantity to export to partners...

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the whole province currently has about 45,000 hectares of rubber, of which nearly 2/3 of the area is for harvesting, with an average latex yield of 14-15 quintals/ha, and in places with good soil and proper care, the yield is 18 quintals/ha. In Tanh Linh alone, the rubber area accounts for half of the province's rubber area. In Tanh Linh and Duc Linh, there are also many rubber latex processing factories, creating a closed production chain from production to processing (although the factories only process raw rubber, not yet producing consumer goods from rubber latex). Thanks to that, a large number of workers in the region are used for care, tapping and processing, contributing to solving the problem of surplus labor with limited education level in rural areas.
