World gold price today July 14, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:00 p.m. on July 14, Vietnam time, was 3,368.02 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 10.07 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,290 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 110.24 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 11.26 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
Gold prices rose to a three-week high on Tuesday, boosted by safe-haven demand after US President Donald Trump threatened tariffs on the European Union and Mexico, while silver prices also hit a more than 13-year high.
Specifically, spot gold prices increased 0.4%, after reaching their highest level since June 23. US gold futures also increased 0.4%, to 3,378.20 USD/ounce.
The move comes after Mr Trump announced he would impose a 30% tariff on most imports from the EU and Mexico from August 1, adding to similar warnings to many other countries.
Both the EU and Mexico have called the tariffs unfair and disruptive to markets. The EU has also announced that it will extend its suspension of retaliatory measures against the US tariffs until early August and continue negotiations to find a solution.
"Trump's tariff threats are driving demand for safe-haven assets, and gold is one of the biggest beneficiaries," said UBS commodities analyst Giovanni Staunovo.
This week, traders are looking ahead to US consumer price index (CPI) and producer price index (PPI) data for further clues on the Federal Reserve's interest rate path.
Investors now expect the Fed to cut interest rates by a total of 50 basis points later this year, starting in October. Gold tends to rise in a low-interest-rate environment.
Meanwhile, spot silver rose 1.5% to $38.89 an ounce, its highest since September 2011. Platinum held steady at $1,398.75, while palladium rose 1.2% to $1,229.44, its highest since late October 2024.
Gold Price Forecast
According to analysts, gold prices are likely to increase this week but will be difficult to make a breakthrough in the short term. The market is expected to move sideways due to the lack of strong supporting factors. The USD has remained high at around 97.8 points over the past week, which has also somewhat limited the increase in gold.
Ole Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank, told Kitco that gold currently lacks the short-term momentum to return to its record high of around $3,500 an ounce in April.
Similarly, Philip Streible, market strategist at Blue Line Futures, said that investors are shifting to other commodities, which is also a factor that makes it difficult for gold to increase sharply. In addition, gold is also facing competition from silver, which has surpassed $38.56 an ounce, up 4% this week and reaching a 14-year high.
Regarding domestic gold prices, experts say that in addition to international prices, the prices of SJC gold bars and 99.99 gold rings are also affected by upcoming changes in gold management policies.
At the request of the Prime Minister, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) must submit a draft amendment to Decree 24/2012/ND-CP on the management of gold trading activities before July 15. The Ministry of Justice has also just announced the appraisal file of this draft.
In the draft, the State Bank proposed to abolish a number of old regulations, including the State's monopoly on the production of gold bars and the export and import of raw gold to produce gold bars.
At the same time, the State Bank also proposed many new regulations, notably requiring gold transactions worth VND20 million or more per day to be conducted through the bank accounts of customers and gold trading enterprises.
These changes may affect liquidity and domestic gold trading sentiment, thereby affecting gold prices in the coming time.
