World gold price today 05/20/2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was 3,229.87 USD/ounce. Today's gold price remains the same as yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (26,344 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 102.5 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is about 16.8 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

Moody's has downgraded the US credit rating from "Aaa" to "Aa1", citing significantly higher public debt and interest rates compared to similarly rated countries, Reuters reported.

"Overall, in the next few months, gold is still a reliable safe investment channel, especially after this US credit downgrade. For me, the gold market is still worth buying and holding," said Mr. Bob Haberkorn, senior strategist at RJO Futures.

The dollar index (.DXY) fell to its lowest level since May 8, while major Wall Street indexes also fell. A weaker greenback makes gold cheaper for investors holding other currencies.

Financial markets were also hit when US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Sunday that President Donald Trump would impose tariffs at the level he warned on April 2 if trading partners did not negotiate in good faith.

Gold, a popular asset amid geopolitical and economic uncertainty, has hit new highs several times this year and is now up 23.2% year-to-date.

Goldman Sachs maintained its forecast for gold prices to reach $3,700 an ounce by year-end and $4,000 an ounce by mid-2026, partly due to a wave of private asset diversification into gold, although the level remains modest.

In another development, President Trump is preparing to call Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss peace in Ukraine, as European leaders demand that Moscow immediately accept a ceasefire to end the war that has lasted more than three years.

Spot silver edged up 0.2% to $32.33 an ounce, while palladium rose 0.9% to $969.38 an ounce.

Demand for platinum jewelry in China is recovering after a decade of decline, contributing to a deeper-than-expected global shortage this year, the World Platinum Investment Council said. Platinum rose 0.4% to $991.76 an ounce.
