The 2024 Vietnam Workers and Public Employees Football Tournament is jointly organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor , the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), and Tuoi Tre Newspaper. At a press conference on the afternoon of September 16th, the organizing committee announced details regarding the time, location, competition format, rules, and the list of participating teams nationwide. The organizing committee also conducted the draw for the group stage and announced the official match schedule.
The tournament was organized in a 7-a-side football format, according to the rules issued by the VFF; implemented through the national labor federation system, it brought together nearly 60 participating teams representing trade unions of provinces/cities, industry trade unions, and businesses nationwide.
The organizers introduced the trophy, flag, jerseys, and match ball for the tournament.
According to the organizers' regulations, eligible participants are male workers, civil servants, and employees of Vietnamese nationality, currently working in agencies, units, and enterprises of all economic sectors with trade unions; having a labor contract and participating in social insurance and health insurance for one year or more at the time of registration; having a smartphone with the VssID application of Vietnam Social Insurance installed and a personal identification account on the VNeID application of the Ministry of Public Security .
The 2024 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament consists of a qualifying round and a final round. The qualifying round is scheduled to be held from September to October 2024 in four regions: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong , Nghe An, and Bac Ninh. The 16 best teams from the qualifying round will qualify for the national final round, which will take place in November in Hanoi.
Representatives from the tournament organizers and coach Phung Thanh Phuong (Ho Chi Minh City FC) jointly drew lots to divide the teams into groups.
The total prize money for the 2024 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament amounts to 930 million VND. Of this, the regional qualifying champion receives 50 million VND, while the national final champion receives 150 million VND.
Besides organizing football matches, in the qualifying and final rounds, the organizing committee also implemented supplementary activities such as: medical examinations and consultations on musculoskeletal issues and sports injuries; free distribution of nutritional and physical therapy medications; and stalls selling discounted essential goods, etc., aiming to care for the cultural and spiritual lives of workers and attract spectators to the stadium to watch and cheer.
The organizers and partners are donating to support people affected by Typhoon Yagi.
