The Trade Union of Hitachi Cable Vietnam Co., Ltd. organized a campaign to raise awareness about traffic safety among its employees.
Accurate propaganda
On December 12th, nearly 500 workers from Hitachi Cable Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Tan Truong Industrial Park) attended a traffic safety awareness session. This activity was organized by the company's labor union in coordination with Traffic Police Team No. 5 (Traffic Police Department, City Police). Beyond simply disseminating traffic safety information, many workers raised concerns and questions about traffic safety and proposed solutions to improve traffic safety within the industrial park.
Ms. Hoang Thi Huyen, a worker at Hitachi Cable Vietnam Co., Ltd., said: “These awareness programs are very useful for us. Not only do we get updated on new, effective traffic policies, but they also help us raise our awareness and drive more carefully.”
On the same day, the Hai Phong City Federation of Labor, in coordination with the Traffic Police Department (Hai Phong City Police), conducted traffic safety awareness campaigns for over 1,000 union members and workers at Horn Vietnam Co., Ltd. (An Duong Industrial Park). The purpose of each campaign was to raise awareness among workers regarding traffic safety, and to provide them with new knowledge and relevant laws so that they could promptly understand and strictly comply with them.
According to Nguyen Khac Tung, Chairman of the Trade Union of Hitachi Cable Vietnam Co., Ltd., the industrial park currently has a large workforce, most of whom are not local residents. Many workers come from mountainous areas or other places. Some workers are careless when participating in traffic, not fully understanding traffic signs and signals, leading to violations or traffic accidents.
Based on this reality, the awareness campaigns were organized with practical content relevant to the lives of the workers. The speakers were officers from the Traffic Police Department, who directly disseminated the basic regulations of the Road Traffic Law and thoroughly analyzed common violations frequently encountered by workers, such as: not wearing a standard helmet, speeding, driving in the wrong lane, running red lights, carrying more passengers than allowed, and driving under the influence of alcohol. This helped workers clearly identify violations, their consequences, and the penalties according to regulations.

Intersections leading to industrial zones are often congested, and workers need to be mindful of traffic rules to build a traffic culture.
Let's work together to build a traffic culture.
According to statistics from Road Traffic Police Team No. 5, from the beginning of the year to December 13th, nearly 480 traffic accidents occurred in the team's jurisdiction, resulting in 220 deaths and 360 injuries. Many of the victims were workers and laborers on their way to or from work.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Cuong, Head of Road Traffic Police Team No. 5 (Traffic Police Department, City Police), said that recently, coordination in promoting traffic safety in industrial zones and clusters has become more frequent. This is because the roads within industrial zones often intersect, and lack some traffic accident warning systems, speed limits, and lighting. Consequently, collisions and traffic accidents in industrial zones are on the rise.
"The goal of the awareness campaign is not only to minimize violations but, more importantly, to foster self-awareness and a culture of traffic safety in each worker. When workers are fully aware of their responsibilities when participating in traffic, accidents will be reduced, and the lives, jobs, and production of businesses will also be ensured," Lieutenant Colonel Cuong informed.
According to assessments by relevant authorities, workers are a group with a high frequency of traffic participation, especially during peak hours in the early morning and late afternoon. Mr. Nguyen Van Luyen, Chief of the City's Traffic Safety Committee Office, stated that currently, there are 43 industrial zones operating in the city, mostly concentrated along National Highway 5, National Highway 10, and the Hanoi -Hai Phong Expressway. This attracts a large number of workers from other provinces commuting daily, causing a sudden surge in traffic density during peak hours. Besides intensifying awareness campaigns, relevant authorities need to implement a comprehensive set of solutions to ensure traffic safety for workers. First and foremost, it is necessary to review and improve traffic infrastructure in industrial zones and clusters, such as adding traffic signs, speed bumps, lane markings, lighting systems, and traffic signals at internal intersections and enterprise entrances.
In addition, traffic police forces are increasing patrols, inspections, and enforcement of violations during peak hours, especially for common offenses committed by workers such as not wearing helmets, speeding, reckless overtaking, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Businesses and grassroots trade unions need to play a more active role and take responsibility in ensuring traffic safety for workers by arranging reasonable working and finishing times to avoid congestion, and organizing transportation for workers in businesses with a large number of employees.
According to the Hai Phong City Federation of Labor, in 2025, trade unions at all levels organized 670 traffic safety awareness classes for 335,000 union members and workers in the city.
