Mastercard has launched Mastercard Threat Intelligence, the first solution to provide large-scale threat intelligence in the payments sector. This solution combines Mastercard's global fraud data with cybersecurity intelligence from Recorded Future, enabling financial institutions across the Asia-Pacific region to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber fraud more quickly and accurately.

The information gap between cybersecurity and fraud prevention teams remains a significant challenge. Sixty percent of global leaders responsible for risk management and fraud are only informed of cyber data breaches after fraud-related losses have occurred, and this figure is even higher in the Asia-Pacific region, at 67%. Similarly, 83 percent of financial institution leaders in the Asia-Pacific region report difficulties due to a lack of real-time integration of cyber threat intelligence (CTI).
Matthew Driver, Executive Vice President of Services for Asia Pacific at Mastercard, said: “Payment fraud is no longer simply a financial issue, but a cybersecurity challenge that directly impacts business profitability. Mastercard Threat Intelligence helps bridge the information gap, enabling security and fraud prevention teams to work seamlessly together to prevent fraud before it happens.”
Mastercard Threat Intelligence provides early warning of suspicious card transactions: Real-time alerts and proactive rejection of fraudulent test transactions help mitigate risks and protect cardholders.
Providing quantitative data to assess the impact of card skimmers and prevent card-related malware, by leveraging Mastercard's industry partner network. Offering targeted, in-depth insights to help assess the risk level of individual merchants and shorten response times when incidents occur.
The solution also provides weekly reports on emerging threats and vulnerabilities in the global payments ecosystem. Payment data analytics reports include actionable case studies and fraud trend analysis, helping to guide strategy and strengthen an organization's defense capabilities.
