* REPORTER: VIETRRO has just launched the digital platform Vietcopyright.com. In your opinion, what are the new and special features of this platform in protecting the copyright of artistic works?
* Ms. LE MINH HANG: Vietcopyright.com is currently the only platform in Vietnam that applies blockchain technology in identifying and managing copyrights of works. The platform is developed by VIETRRO - the only collective copyright and related rights organization (CMO) with the function of protecting copyright in Vietnam.
Vietcopyright's distinguishing feature lies in its legitimacy, transparency, and interconnectedness. This platform not only provides a unique NFT identifier for each work but also records all original information on the blockchain, verifying ownership from the moment of creation, both digitally and physically. Unlike previous solutions that often only involved manual registration or paper certification, Vietcopyright.com implements a comprehensive digital process: from registration, verification, management, and retrieval of works to licensing, buying, and selling works—all conducted online, transparently, and with legal validity.
Furthermore, the platform integrates the licensing and commercialization functions of works operated by VIETRRO, supporting authors in controlling the use of copies, tracking royalty revenue, and tracing transactions. This is a significant step forward, contributing to the professionalization of intellectual property management and the development of the creative industry in Vietnam.

* By participating in WIPO Connect, how will creative works such as paintings, photographs, poems, etc., be assigned international identification codes?
* When connected to WIPO Connect, each collective copyright and related rights organization (CMO) will have a unique international identification code, standardized by WIPO. VIETRRO's identification code is 2060. This helps distinguish it from hundreds of other CMOs operating globally. When an author authorizes their work and registers it with VIETRRO, the author will receive an identification code according to VIETRRO's number.
This helps the work gain global recognition. Authors can easily prove ownership in case of disputes, increasing access to international markets, enhancing the prestige and value of the work, and monitoring the use of the work transparently through bilateral cooperation mechanisms between CMOs. Collectors or organizations using the work can check the origin and copyright status before purchasing, licensing, or using it commercially.
* In the event of a risk, what measures and solutions will VIETRRO implement to ensure copyright protection?
* When a work is registered on Vietcopyright.com, the author will establish digital ownership through a unique NFT code, combined with immutable information storage on the blockchain. This data is also integrated into the WIPO Connect system, confirming ownership not only domestically but also internationally. The work is managed within VIETRRO's collective copyright system, providing a solid legal basis for intervention in case of infringement.
Regarding risky situations such as unauthorized copying, unauthorized use, or ownership disputes, VIETRRO will act as the main point of contact for handling complaints, collecting evidence from the system to support authors in filing lawsuits or requesting action against infringement. With a multi-layered protection mechanism, combining technology, domestic legal frameworks, and international recognition, Vietcopyright.com is not only a technical tool but also a solid legal barrier for authors and collectors in the process of creating and trading works.
* With the identification of artworks using NFT codes, do you think this will help prevent counterfeit and copied paintings – a rather troublesome issue for the art community in the country today?
* Preventing counterfeit and copied paintings is the responsibility of the entire society. While identifying artworks using NFT codes cannot completely prevent forgery or copying, it is a very effective tool for verifying authenticity and tracing the origin of artworks – a major problem in today's art market. NFTs may not stop counterfeiters, but they will make it more difficult for fakes to thrive – because buyers and the market can clearly distinguish between original, identified works and counterfeit copies. This could be a significant step towards professionalizing the art market in the digital age.
A crucial issue in limiting, and potentially eliminating, the problem of counterfeit and copied artwork is the licensing of copy usage. A person needing to use a copy can apply through Vietcopyright for a license to use it for various purposes at a reasonable price, which will reduce the demand for counterfeit and copied artwork. Because for the same price, they can use a legally copied artwork, and the author also receives the desired payment, the purchase of counterfeit and copied artwork will gradually disappear, similar to the problem of pirated CDs in the previous decade.
The process of identifying works on the Vietcopyright.com platform is entirely digitized in 3 steps: the author or owner registers an account and identifies the work digitally (images, paintings, documentary photos, etc.); each identified work is assigned a unique NFT code, recording all information such as the work title, author, creation date, ownership rights, etc.; the identified work is stored in a centralized copyright management database, helping to establish ownership transparently and allowing access at any time.
