Introducing the scientific conference "60 Years of the Binh Gia Victory"

NDO - On the morning of November 13th, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense, in coordination with the Central Propaganda Department and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, held a press conference to introduce the Ministry of National Defense-level scientific conference "60 Years of the Binh Gia Victory - Historical Value and Lessons Learned".

Representatives from the Propaganda Department (General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army), the Military History Institute, the Central Propaganda Department, and the Propaganda Department of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee co-chaired the press conference.

In his opening remarks at the press conference, Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department, affirmed that the Binh Gia Victory has gone down in the history of the Vietnamese people's resistance war against the US, as one of the important milestones marking the failure of the "Special War" strategy, a part of the global military strategy of "flexible response" applied by the US imperialists to the battlefield in South Vietnam.

The victory at Binh Gia created a new strategic advantage and strength, contributing to the accelerated failure of the US imperialist "Special War" strategy. The victory had immense strategic significance, with profound and far-reaching effects both domestically and internationally; it affirmed the fighting spirit and determination of our army and people to fight and defeat the invading American enemy. In particular, it highlighted the crucial role of the South Vietnamese Liberation Armed Forces in leading and conducting the revolutionary war. It was truly a decisive blow, contributing to the failure of the "strategic hamlet" policy – ​​the "backbone" of the US imperialist "Special War" strategy – and the "armored vehicle" and "helicopter transport" tactics of the US-puppet regime.

Sixty years have passed, but the immense historical value of the Binh Gia Victory continues to provide invaluable lessons, especially in the art of campaigning, force utilization, tactics, and combat operations. These lessons have a profound impact on military agencies and units, enabling them to apply these principles in training officers and soldiers today, meeting the demands of modern warfare.

The seminar aims to further affirm and clarify the correct and insightful leadership and guidance of the Central Party Committee, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and directly the Central Bureau and the Regional Command - the decisive factors in the victory of the Binh Gia Campaign; to provide new documents, profound scientific arguments and evidence to clarify the preparation process, the course of the campaign, and the role and coordination of the forces participating in the campaign.

This is an opportunity to promote and educate about the revolutionary struggle traditions, foster patriotism and national pride among officers, soldiers, and the people, especially the younger generation; and at the same time, to draw lessons from experience and creatively apply them to the practical construction and protection of the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland today.

At the press conference, representatives from the Institute of Military History, the Central Propaganda Department, and the Propaganda Department of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee provided information introducing the theme, purpose, significance, content, program, and preparatory activities for the conference; information on activities related to the propaganda work commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Binh Gia Victory by the army and people nationwide; and the achievements in socio-economic development, consolidation, and strengthening of national defense, security, and foreign relations of the Party Committee, government, armed forces, and people of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province after 60 years since the Binh Gia Victory.

The aforementioned workshop will take place on the morning of November 22nd in Vung Tau City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.
