In preparation for the 2026 high school graduation exam, the Department of Education and Training has directed high schools and continuing education centers to develop plans and assign personnel to ensure the effective organization and implementation of tutoring, review, and enrichment programs for students.

Organize a city-wide mock graduation exam and mock exams in clusters of schools to familiarize students with the exam structure. Based on this, students can be categorized to develop appropriate tutoring and remedial plans.

Simultaneously, the organization will guide and support high schools in mountainous areas in reviewing and tutoring students for the high school graduation exam; closely follow the structure of the high school graduation exam set by the Ministry of Education and Training ; strengthen thematic assessment and student classification to develop appropriate review strategies…

Supporting students

These days, at Nam Tra My Ethnic Boarding Secondary and High School (Nam Tra My commune), the atmosphere of preparing for the high school graduation exam is very intense. According to Mr. Bui Ngoc Luan, the school's principal, this year the school has 92 students in grade 12, with over 95% being from ethnic minority groups.

The school considers reviewing and providing remedial instruction for 12th-grade students preparing for the high school graduation exam as a top priority. Therefore, from the beginning of the school year, in addition to the compulsory subjects, based on the combined results of students' elective subject choices, the school has directed subject departments to develop plans and content for remedial teaching programs for students.

From the middle of the first semester, Nam Tra My Ethnic Boarding Secondary and High School begins teaching graduation exam preparation classes for students, initially with 2 lessons per subject, increasing the number of lessons from the middle of the second semester. After the closing ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year, all 12th-grade students will continue to stay at the school for review.

During the review process, students are divided into three groups: those at risk of failing to graduate, the general group, and the group aiming for university admission. Based on these groups, teachers develop review content tailored to the abilities of each group. After each survey or mock exam, the school analyzes the score distribution for each subject to adjust the review strategies accordingly.

“Regarding learning spaces, the dormitory rooms previously housed 10 students per room, but now that students from all grade levels have gone home for summer vacation, the school has arranged for fewer students per room, with approximately 5-6 students. In addition to the main meals provided by the school, the school has improved the quality of meals and added extra snacks in the evenings during the final week to ensure students have the best health to enter the exam period,” Mr. Luan shared.

This year, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huong, a 12th-grade student from Nam Tra My Ethnic Boarding Secondary and High School, chose five majors in History Education at various teacher training universities, making the exam preparation process quite stressful. Huong said that despite the large amount of knowledge and the intense study schedule, she felt quite reassured because her teachers accompanied and supported her, from consolidating foundational knowledge and providing sample questions closely aligned with the exam structure to honing test-taking skills and offering psychological counseling to reduce stress.

Maintain a study rhythm.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Nguyen Van Troi High School (La Deee commune) will have 140 12th-grade students, 98% of whom are children from ethnic minority communities. In late May, the school's dormitory remains brightly lit until late at night, as after regular classes, 12th-grade students continue reviewing, solving problems, checking answers, and asking teachers for clarification on areas they haven't fully grasped.

Most students face significant learning challenges and have uneven knowledge backgrounds. Therefore, organizing graduation exam preparation courses is not only a professional responsibility but also a way for the school to maintain the learning pace, giving students more motivation and the necessary conditions to prepare for this important exam.

According to Mr. Bo Ling Vinh, Principal of Nguyen Van Troi High School, most students at the school choose subjects in the social science group such as History, Geography or Economics and Law Education because they are more suitable for the abilities of students in mountainous areas.

Meanwhile, although the number of students registering for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology is not large, the school still maintains review classes for the natural science subjects to meet the needs of students who wish to apply to university. Teachers arrange teaching schedules accordingly to provide additional support and help students consolidate their knowledge during the exam preparation period.

At Nguyen Van Troi High School, the majority of teachers and 12th-grade students are boarding students, which facilitates the maintenance of a guided self-study model. After regular classes, students continue their self-study sessions under the supervision of their assigned teachers. Any difficulties encountered during assignments are addressed immediately during the study session.

For science subjects, teachers proactively collect exam questions, guide students on how to identify question types, and directly correct their mistakes. During this final exam preparation period, the school requires all 12th-grade students to stay at school for focused study, ensuring the best possible review results.
