In Quang Ngai, a series of coastal tourism and service projects have been slow to implement, causing a waste of land resources and affecting the local development orientation.

"Suspended" projects waste resources.

The coastal area of ​​Tinh Khe commune (Quang Ngai province) is considered to have great potential for tourism and resort development. However, instead of becoming vibrant destinations, many plots of land allocated to projects have been left abandoned for a long time.

A typical example is the My Khe Beach Resort project. The project, launched in 2010, covers an area of ​​approximately 21 hectares. In 2019, the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 302, revoking the land from My Khe Vietnam Joint Stock Company and leasing over 23.5 hectares to My Khe Resort Villa Joint Stock Company to continue the project, with a lease term until 2059.

However, despite numerous extensions of the deadline and changes in the investment unit, the project has yet to be implemented as expected. The coastal land, once considered "prime land" in the Tinh Khe area, is now in a state of disrepair, with many structures deteriorating, resulting in wasted land resources and negatively impacting the area's landscape.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, head of Co Luy village, Tinh Khe commune, said that local people have repeatedly petitioned for a definitive solution to the prolonged delay of the project.

"The people hope that local leaders will recognize and consider not letting this land go to waste. The situation of 'stalled' projects has lasted for decades and must be resolved now so that they can be put into operation effectively," Mr. Khoi said.

According to the People's Committee of Tinh Khe commune, there are currently 14 non-budgetary projects in the area that have been granted investment decisions but have not yet been implemented or have only been partially implemented. The majority are tourism, integrated service, and residential projects located in advantageous coastal locations or along major transportation routes.

Prolonged delays in project implementation not only reduce land use efficiency but also negatively impact the investment environment, limiting opportunities for local economic and service development.

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tinh Khe commune, said that local voters have complained a lot about projects being behind schedule.

"The slow implementation of the project is causing waste and difficulties for the people. Voters suggest that the province focus on resolving obstacles; projects that meet the conditions should be extended, while those that do not should have their investment policies terminated to attract more capable investors," Mr. Thanh proposed.

Resolving the issue completely.

In response to this situation, Quang Ngai province is focusing on reviewing and addressing slow-moving projects in order to unlock investment resources and improve land use efficiency.

Recently, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Sam, along with leaders of various departments and agencies, conducted on-site inspections of several land development projects with the potential to be auctioned for land use rights in 2026 in the eastern part of the province, including the Hang Duong Urban and Beach Tourism Service Area and the Riverside My Khe Commercial and Service Complex.

The Hang Duong Urban and Coastal Tourism Service Area project in Tinh Khe commune covers an area of ​​over 22,480m². Currently, the Provincial Land Fund Development Center has finalized the land use rights auction plan and submitted it to the competent authority for appraisal and approval.

Meanwhile, the Riverside My Khe Commercial and Service Complex project, covering an area of ​​over 8,000m², is expected to generate approximately 21 billion VND from the land use rights auction. Relevant agencies are coordinating with local authorities to gather community feedback and finalize procedures for adjusting the detailed planning in order to hold the auction as soon as possible according to regulations.

Following an on-site inspection, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Sam requested that agencies, units, and localities focus on completing legal procedures, closely adhering to the 2026 land use rights auction plan, and strengthening coordination to resolve difficulties and obstacles arising during the implementation process.

Addressing the delayed projects in Tinh Khe is expected to contribute to the efficient use of coastal land, prevent resource waste, create opportunities to attract capable investors, and thereby promote the development of the local marine economy and tourism services in the future.
