The Ho Chi Minh City 10th grade entrance exam took place on June 6-7. This year, the number of 9th grade students taking the junior high school graduation exam was 113,802. Of these, the total number of candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam was 96,325, divided into groups: 88,237 candidates registered for only 3 regular preferences; 1,147 candidates registered for integrated preferences; and 6,941 candidates registered for specialized preferences, including 236 candidates from other provinces.

Across the city, 966 students were admitted directly to grade 10, including 112 students with physical disabilities, 818 students with intellectual disabilities, and the rest were national and international winners in physical education and sports .

The Ho Chi Minh City 10th grade entrance exam took place at 158 ​​testing locations (including 147 regular testing locations and 11 specialized testing locations) with 4,102 examination rooms (of which 3,778 were regular 10th grade rooms – 24 candidates per room, with 3 additional reserve rooms at each testing location). The city mobilized 12,306 officials and teachers to serve as invigilators and 2,370 staff, security guards, police officers, etc., to perform duties at the testing locations.

Students take exams in three subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language. The time allotted for the Mathematics and Literature exams is 120 minutes, while the Foreign Language exam is 90 minutes. The admission score for grade 10 is usually calculated as follows: Mathematics score + Literature score + Foreign Language score + bonus points (if any).

Candidates will be allowed to register three priority choices (1, 2, and 3) for admission to 10th grade in public high schools (excluding Le Hong Phong Specialized High School, Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School, and the High School for the Gifted, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City).

For the 10th grade Specialized and Integrated classes, candidates will take the specialized and integrated subject exams in the afternoon of June 7th. The exam time for the specialized and integrated subjects is 150 minutes. The admission score for the 10th grade Specialized class is calculated as follows: Math score + Literature score + Foreign Language score + Specialized subject score x 2 + bonus points (if any).

Le Hong Phong Specialized High School accepts junior high school students from other provinces to take the entrance exam if they meet the requirements. Students register for 4 preferences, with preferences 1 and 2 for specialized classes; preferences 3 and 4 for non-specialized classes at Le Hong Phong Specialized High School and Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School. If a student is not admitted to a specialized school or class, they can still apply for admission to 10th grade at Le Hong Phong Specialized High School.
