S80 Scholarship recorded positive results after nearly a month of implementation

After nearly a month of launching, the S80 International Education Scholarship program, jointly organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper and SunUni Academy, has recorded a level of interest that exceeded expectations. According to the Admissions Committee, up to now, the program has received an average of hundreds of applications per day from all provinces and cities, demonstrating the program's wide reach in the English learning community.

The data shows that in terms of learning format, the IELTS course clearly dominates with about 68% of total registrations, while the online English communication course accounts for about 32%.

In terms of age groups, students (13–17 years old) account for 15% of total registrations; university students (18–22 years old) account for 36%; the group of working people over 22 years old accounts for the largest proportion at 49%, affirming that English is still an urgent need of the workforce in the context of integration.

Besides, students in Ho Chi Minh City accounted for the highest proportion with 35% of the total number of applications; Hanoi recorded a rate of 21%; while the group from other provinces and cities accounted for the largest proportion with 44%.

This structure shows that the demand for online English learning, especially IELTS, is increasing significantly in localities outside the two major cities - where access to quality English programs is still limited.

The S80 scholarship program has a scale of 8,000 partial scholarships supporting up to 70% of tuition fees for IELTS and Online Communication courses, along with 168 full scholarships for children of war invalids, martyrs, meritorious people and students with excellent academic achievements. The subjects of the S80 scholarship range from high school students, university students to working people, especially those who want to improve their English skills to serve their studies, careers and international integration.

In particular, the program has the participation of many educational, technological and financial organizations such as the University of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi (academic sponsor), ELSA Corp, ClassIn, Sacombank , Rootopia, Payoo, Lotte Finance, Shinhan Finance, IDP Vietnam... contributing to creating a comprehensive support ecosystem for learners. This is an important foundation to help the S80 scholarship program operate effectively, expand access and bring equal learning opportunities to learners across the country.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chuoc, member of the Scholarship Review Board and Deputy General Director of SunUni Academy Business, said that the registration data accurately reflects the real demand for English learning among Vietnamese people: “ Many applications show a great motivation to study, especially among working people. Many candidates have financial difficulties or have limited English skills, but all of them show a spirit of learning and a desire to change. S80 is built to open up real opportunities for those who are striving to improve themselves.”

Mr. Chuoc also said that the Review Board focuses on three main criteria: learning objectives, course suitability and commitment of the learner. “ We do not select based on English entry scores, but focus on the development ability and efforts of each individual. The scholarship must reach those who need it most and can use it most effectively, ” he emphasized.

In addition to tuition support, the S80 scholarship provides a comprehensive learning ecosystem including the ClassIn online classroom platform, the AI ELSA Business pronunciation practice account, Cambridge-standard curriculum, and two exclusive teaching methods of SunUni Academy: TACTICS for IELTS and ThinkTalk for conversational English.
