The opening ceremony of Vietnam Happy Fest 2025 took place on the morning of December 6th at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square. The event, held from December 5th to 7th, was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) in collaboration with the Hanoi People's Committee, Vietnam Television, and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.
In his opening remarks at the event, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh stated that 2025 marks a proud milestone as Vietnam rises to 46th place globally in the World Happiness Report, an increase of 8 places compared to the previous year.
Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh delivered the opening speech at the festival.
“This is not just a statistic, but also an acknowledgment of the persistent efforts of the Party and the State in creating a safe, humane living environment and, above all, the optimistic and compassionate spirit of the Vietnamese people; it also vividly reflects the aspirations and unity of millions of Vietnamese people towards a prosperous, thriving, and loving future,” Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh emphasized.
Vietnam Happy Fest 2025 is an expansion of the Happy Vietnam Award - a media award on human rights, showcasing beautiful moments about the country and people of Vietnam.
Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Ha Thi Nga, and President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists Tran Thi Thu Dong performed the opening ceremony.
This festival was created as a multi-layered experiential journey. This year's event space stretches along the streets around Ho Guom Lake with 13 experiential points designed as 13 emotional rhythms, including: the "Happy Vietnam" exhibition, a digital interactive space, an art photobooth, the "Lens of Happiness," the "Map of Happiness," the outdoor activities " Health is Happiness," " Sending Happiness to Tomorrow," "Sharing Happiness," and "Happy Radio Announcer."
One of the highlights of the festival was the mass wedding ceremony of 80 couples with the theme "Love is Happiness." The organizers chose the number 80 to convey a message about the 80-year journey of Independence, Freedom, and Happiness of the nation.

People's Artist Xuan Bac - Director of the Department of Performing Arts - was one of the special guests at the mass wedding ceremony. He took on the role of coordinating the ceremony before the main MC - MC Quyen Linh - appeared. The male artist's appearance both enlivened the atmosphere of the ceremony and served as his blessing for the 80 couples.
After the joyful and lively moments brought by People's Artist Xuan Bac, MC Quyen Linh led the audience and guests to deeper emotional levels as they listened to couples share their journeys to happiness.

Sharing their story at their wedding, the couple Nguyen Vu Hoi and Vu Thi Trang emotionally recounted their 40-year journey of happiness. They explained that in their 40 years together, they endured 35 years of hardship, as just five years after their marriage, Nguyen Vu Hoi suffered an accident and was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
“After the accident, my spirits were low, but luckily I had my wife and children by my side. This was also the motivation for me to overcome everything. I would like to express my gratitude to my wife – who has held my hand and accompanied me through these years. She has led me down the path to happiness,” Mr. Nguyen Vu Hoi said emotionally.
The story of the couple Nguyen Vu Hoi and Vu Thi Trang touched many viewers.
In particular, at the Ly Thai To Monument area, the "Tree of Happiness" will receive tens of thousands of wishes and blessings. Each small piece of paper is a story, a wish, a seed of love. Along with the wedding ceremony, other activities such as the "Hundred Flowers Walking Parade" with the participation of 800 people, the "Lens of Happiness" workshop, the Happy Vietnam 2025 Awards Ceremony, the "Happy Vietnam" music night… promise to take locals and tourists on a journey of color, art, and genuine emotions.
