According to the plan of the Vietnam Sports Delegation, the boxing team will leave for Thailand to attend the 33rd SEA Games on December 8. The Vietnamese boxing team participating in the 33rd SEA Games under the leadership of coaches Nguyen Nhu Cuong, Huynh Viet Khanh and Pham Thanh Hai, brings together the most promising faces today, including Ha Thi Linh, Vo Thi Kim Anh, Hoang Thi Ngoc Mai, Ngo Ngoc Linh Chi, Nguyen Huyen Tran, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran, Nguyen Minh Cuong, Nguyen Van Duong, Nguyen Linh Phung, Bui Phuoc Tung, Tran Quang Loc, Nguyen Manh Cuong and Nguyen Duc Ngoc.
With this force, the team aims to win at least 1 Gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games. Thailand is a real power in Southeast Asian boxing, so competing for high achievements in the Land of the Golden Temple will certainly be very difficult for Vietnamese boxing. At the 32nd SEA Games held two years ago in Cambodia, the Vietnamese boxing team won 2 Gold medals, 1 Silver medal and 3 Bronze medals.
To encourage the athletes and affirm the support of the managers in the most important competition event in the region, the Vietnam Boxing Federation decided to award bonuses for the athletes' performance at the congress. The specific rewards include 1,000 USD for a Gold medal, 300 USD for a Silver medal and 5 million VND for a Bronze medal.
In addition, Mr. Vu Duc Thinh, former head of the Boxing Department - Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department, announced that he would reward 500 USD for each athlete who won a gold medal; former athlete Truong Dinh Hoang, head of the TDH Boxing club in Buon Ma Thuot city, also offered a reward of 10 million VND for each gold medal.
Thus, the Gold Boxing medal has a bonus of up to 1,500 USD and 10 million VND, totaling about 49.5 million VND.
