Gianh Port Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Border Guard) coordinated with Border Guard Squadron 1, transport ship Khanh Minh 09 and a local fishing boat to promptly and successfully rescue two fishermen whose boat sank while fishing at Gianh estuary.

Previously, on the evening of December 5, Captain Nguyen Quang Cong of the Khanh Minh 09 transport ship announced that while on his way to Gianh port, he discovered and rescued a person drifting at sea. The victim, Nguyen Van Nhan (born in 1980), said that another fisherman, Nguyen Duc Thuan (born in 1981), was also drifting. The two were rowing a boat to fish when the boat sank.

Immediately upon receiving the information, Gianh Port Border Guard Station dispatched forces, deployed speedboats and mobilized fishing boats and fishermen to search.

At 9 p.m. the same day, the Border Guard and fishermen at sea discovered and rescued Nguyen Duc Thuan safely to shore. Both fishermen were examined by the military medical team, stabilized and returned to their families.
