Grealish scored one goal in Manchester City's 2-0 victory over Leicester. This was also the midfielder's first Premier League goal of the 2024/25 season. The last time Grealish scored for Manchester City in the domestic league was 14 months ago. Across all competitions, Grealish has also gone almost four months without scoring for Manchester City.
Speaking after ending his goal drought, Grealish said: “As soon as I scored, I knew people would bring this up. I wasn’t at my best, even last season. I only started three or four games. Now I’m very happy to have started tonight and also very pleased to have scored a goal.”
The arrival of Savinho, the impressive form of players like Jeremy Doku and new signing Omar Marmoush have made it difficult for Grealish to compete for a starting spot. Coach Pep Guardiola has also been forced to make adjustments given Man City's unconvincing performances a few months ago.
Despite recently ending his goal drought, Grealish remains on Manchester City's transfer list. The club is demanding a €40 million transfer fee from any team interested in the former captain. AC Milan is currently interested in the English midfielder. The San Siro club also recently signed Kyle Walker from Manchester City on loan this past winter.
Conversely, Man City are targeting the Bundesliga duo of Florian Wirtz (Leverkusen) and Hugo Larsson (Frankfurt). Both are talented midfielders who have made a name for themselves this season. However, this partnership could cost Man City no less than £150 million.
