'Hanoi having a Michelin-starred restaurant is an opportunity to promote its tourism image'

On the evening of June 6, Michelin announced the list of Michelin Guide restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Of the 103 restaurants selected, 48 are in Hanoi and 55 are in Ho Chi Minh City. The 48 restaurants in Hanoi are included in the following categories: 3 restaurants with 1 Michelin star (Gia restaurant, Hibana by Koki restaurant of Capella Hanoi Hotel and Tam Vi restaurant); 13 restaurants receiving the Bib Gourmand award; 32 restaurants on the Michelin Selected list and 01 Michelin Award for Outstanding Young Chef from Gia Hanoi restaurant.

The leader of the Hanoi Department of Tourism said that Hanoi having a representative restaurant awarded a Michelin star - a prestigious award in the world's culinary world is good news for the capital's tourism industry and a good opportunity to widely promote Hanoi's cuisine to the world. At the same time, this is also a motivation for restaurants and eateries to standardize their service style, ensure food hygiene and safety, be creative in processing methods and create a unique space, bringing many experiences to customers. When prestigious chefs and restaurants of Hanoi appear on the world culinary map, they will create unique culinary tourism products for domestic and international tourists when coming to Hanoi.

In order to exploit and develop culinary tourism products to become the strength of the capital's tourism, in the coming time, the Hanoi Department of Tourism will promote the Michelin-starred restaurant system alongside other prestigious restaurants and eateries in Hanoi in propaganda and promotion programs for Hanoi tourism on media channels, social networking sites as well as at domestic and international tourism promotion events; build a Food Tour map so that tourists can explore and experience local cuisine on their own; disseminate knowledge about ensuring food hygiene and safety, communication skills, improving the quality of tourist services, especially strengthening the inspection and examination of establishments that meet tourist service standards to continue to maintain and improve the image and quality of the capital's tourism in the coming time.

With its unique and attractive cuisine, loved by international friends, Hanoi was honored to be ranked 3rd in the list of Top 20 destinations for food lovers in 2023 voted by TripAdvisor. Therefore, having a representative in the list of Michelin-starred restaurants will elevate Hanoi cuisine in particular, and Vietnamese cuisine in general, on the world culinary tourism map. This is also an opportunity for the city to continue promoting the image and brand of the capital's tourism through its rich, diverse, and traditional cuisine, becoming a driving force to improve the quality of tourism services in the capital, especially in the context of Hanoi tourism recovering and developing again in the first months of 2023.
