Hanoi announces 10th grade exam scores in 2024

There is currently no official time to announce the 10th grade entrance exam scores in Hanoi in 2024. While other provinces and cities have announced the 10th grade entrance exam scores, Hanoi is the last locality that has not announced them. The waiting time of nearly 1 month makes candidates and parents even more anxious.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao, a former 9th grade student at Le Quy Don Secondary School, Cau Giay, said that this afternoon she just learned the admission scores for Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School. Because she was not admitted to this school, she is eagerly waiting for the day when the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announces the 10th grade entrance exam scores.

"With the questions from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, I did better. Many of my friends also said they did well. I hope this year's benchmark score is not too high and I will be admitted to Cau Giay High School. Last year, the benchmark score for Cau Giay High School was 41.50. I calculated my total score for all subjects and got about 42 points," Thao said.

Although it is not yet time for Hanoi to announce the 10th grade exam scores in 2024, through the official grading scale and answers of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, parents and their children can compare and self-score.

Ms. Hoang Thu Trang, a parent of a 9th grade student at Lang Thuong Secondary School, Dong Da, said that while she was nervous when her child took the exam, she was twice as nervous during the days waiting for the exam results.

"After comparing the answers and the grading scale of the Department of Education and Training, my daughter calculated that she got 7 points in Math, 8 points in Literature, and 8.5 points in English. According to the calculation of coefficient 2 for Math and Literature, my daughter only got 38.5 points, so she may not be able to pass the high school she registered for her first choice and the neighboring high school if based on last year's standard score. I still hope that there will be "some miracle" so that my daughter can get extra points when grading, or that the school lacks quotas and lowers the standard score," said Ms. Trang.

Duong Quang Tung, a 9th grade student at Nam Tu Liem Secondary School, Nam Tu Liem, said that this year's Math and English exams were quite easy, he calculated that he would get 9 points for each subject, Literature is not his strong point, Tung predicted that he would get 6 points.

"With this score, I can pass Trung Van High School, if the school increases by 1-2 points compared to last year. Anyway, I am still very anxiously waiting for the day to check my exam scores," Tung said.

Marking completed on June 23

The 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi will take place over 2 days from June 8-9 with 3 subjects: Math, Literature, English. The number of students admitted to 10th grade in public high schools is about 81,200 students, and to private high schools, vocational training centers, and vocationaltraining institutions is about 51,800 students. Nearly 40% of Hanoi students will fail the 10th grade public school in the 2024-2025 school year. This is considered the most stressful exam ever with the number of candidates increasing compared to last year.

According to the latest information from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the marking of the 10th grade entrance exam for public high schools in the 2024-2025 school year is being urgently implemented. According to the plan, the marking will be completed on June 23. From June 24, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will organize the combination of admission scores for each candidate; print the exam result report for each candidate; and issue the exam result report to the district, county, and town education and training departments.

Hanoi is expected to announce the 10th grade exam scores in 2024 no later than July 2.
