Hanoi welcomes hundreds of thousands of tourists on New Year's Eve

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism , during the 3-day New Year holiday (from December 30, 2023 to January 1, 2024), it is estimated that the number of tourists to Hanoi will reach 402,000, an increase of 65% over the same period last year.

Of which, international tourists are estimated at 72,000 arrivals, up 2.1 times; domestic tourists are estimated at 330,000 arrivals, up 59%. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at nearly VND 1,500 billion, up 73% over the same period in 2023.

During the holiday, many tourist areas and attractions in Hanoi have launched many new tourism programs and products as well as organized attractive activities and events to stimulate demand and attract tourists to visit and experience. Typically: The program "Welcome New Year 2024" (Countdown program) at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square; a series of cultural activities, art performances, cuisine to welcome the new year, trade promotion fairs and display of OCOP products, agricultural products, exhibitions of bonsai art on walking streets and tourist attractions; especially on the evening of December 31, 2023, at Son Tay Ancient Citadel walking street, Son Tay Town People's Committee organized a program to welcome the new year 2024 and launch "Son Tay - Xu Doai Tourism Year 2024" with a series of trade promotion fair activities associated with promoting tourism and culture; Costume exhibition at Van Tea space, culinary performance at Village Kitchen...

Also on this occasion, the pedestrian street space around Hoan Kiem Lake, Tran Nhan Tong pedestrian street and surrounding areas are allowed to extend its operation until January 1, 2024, along with traditional art performances to serve the people and tourists. Thang Long Imperial Citadel organized a flag-raising activity in front of Doan Mon yard, recalling the first historic flag-raising ceremony after the Liberation of the Capital 69 years ago.

The special national historical relic - scenic spot Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple has an activity to display precious photos of Ngoc Son Temple. The Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam relic has held a night experience program with the theme "The Quintessence of Confucianism".

Along with that, there is also a cycling program to explore Hanoi at night with the theme “Thang Long - Hanoi Night”. Camping, mountain climbing, and off-road walking activities in the suburbs of the city are also taking place vibrantly… It can be affirmed that Hanoi is still an attractive destination for people and tourists on the occasion of New Year this year.

According to some tourist attractions such as relics, museums, parks, eco-tourism areas, and tourist resorts in the area, during the 3-day New Year holiday, the number of visitors increased sharply. Hoan Kiem Lake tourist area - vicinity and Hanoi Old Quarter welcomed over 150,000 visitors, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam welcomed about 15,500 visitors, Thang Long Imperial Citadel welcomed about 12,000 visitors. Ba Vi National Park welcomed about 8,000 visitors...

During the holiday, the Hanoi Department of Tourism has directed tourism service businesses to strictly comply with legal regulations on travel activities, tour guides, and tourist transportation, while ensuring urban order, public order, roads, and sidewalks; and handle acts of stalking, soliciting, overcharging, and taking advantage of tourists at tourist destinations in the city.

Also during the 3-day holiday, the average room occupancy rate of the hotel block is estimated at about 60% (of which domestic guests are estimated at about 35.3%; international guests are about 24.7%), an increase of 7.8% over the same period in 2023.

Some 4-5 star hotels and apartments have high room occupancy rates such as: Capela Hotel 90%, Lacasa Hotel about 90%, Grand Vista Hanoi 76.4%, Lasieta 85%, Flower Garden 84%...

At shopping, dining, and entertainment centers that meet tourist service standards, the number of visitors and purchasing power increased, with estimated revenue increasing by about 16% over the same period in 2023.
