Hanoi stops digging roads from January 22 to serve people's travel needs during Lunar New Year

The Hanoi Department of Transport has requested a temporary halt to road and sidewalk digging for 20 days, from January 22 to February 12, to serve people's travel needs during the Lunar New Year.


The Hanoi Department of Transport requests investors, project management boards and contractors to carry out construction works on roads and streets in Hanoi to strengthen supervision, review the site, speed up construction progress, complete items under construction, return and clear the site to ensure traffic safety and order, environmental sanitation and urban aesthetics before January 22, 2025.

It is forbidden to dig up roads and sidewalks during holidays and Tet to ensure aesthetics and traffic safety. Illustrative photo.

Units are also required to temporarily stop digging roads and sidewalks in the city from January 22 to February 12, except for some emergency incident handling projects and key projects licensed by the Hanoi People's Committee and the Department of Transport.

Hanoi Department of Transport requested Hanoi City Police to strengthen coordination, inspection and handling of violations by investors, project management boards and construction contractors violating the above contents.

The Department of Transport Inspectorate, the Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Board, and units managing, maintaining and repairing traffic infrastructure systems are assigned to strengthen inspection work and strictly handle violations.
