Hanoi sets up a surprise inspection team for boarding meals after the 'magic' vegetable scandal

Hanoi established an interdisciplinary inspection team for boarding meals for students at schools in the area, led by the Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee.

Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh has just signed a decision to establish an interdisciplinary inspection team to organize meals for boarding students at schools in Hanoi for the 2025-2026 school year.

The head of the delegation is Ms. Vu Thu Ha - Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee. The permanent deputy head of the delegation is Mr. Vu Cao Cuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Health and the members are representatives of the participating departments, branches and sectors.

The inspection team will conduct surprise inspections from October 6, 2025 to May 31, 2026 across the city, in wards and communes that organize boarding meals for students.

The inspection team will inspect the organization of boarding meals for students at schools in the city for the 2025-2026 school year, focusing on the direction, management, assessment, appraisal, inspection and supervision of the People's Committees of wards and communes related to food safety conditions for units providing meals, food ingredients, milk and dairy products, and bottled drinking water.

Immediately after this incident was raised, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh requested local departments and agencies to investigate and strictly handle the matter.
