The "Shark's Jaw" building was constructed in the early 1990s on a 310m2 plot of land and has 6 floors. The building was constructed on the site of a former tram depot, overlooking Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and offering panoramic views of Hoan Kiem Lake.

Previously, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan agreed on a plan to create an underground space and expand Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square after demolishing the "Shark's Jaw" building.

City leaders are planning to study the construction of three underground levels in the "Shark's Jaw" area, with the function of a cultural and commercial space (level 1); and a parking area (levels 2 and 3).

The city is also planning to relocate 11 agencies and dozens of households east of Hoan Kiem Lake to build a square and a special park in the area.

Additionally, the city plans to construct an underground space with three levels in the area east of Hoan Kiem Lake. These underground levels will connect to the C9 underground station (located beneath Dinh Tien Hoang Street), part of the Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao railway line.
