Forecasts for May 26-27 indicate that the Northern Delta, Phu Tho, and the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue will continue to experience intense and exceptionally intense heat with maximum temperatures commonly ranging from 38-40 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in some places, while the lowest relative humidity will generally be between 40-45%.

Other areas in the North (except Dien Bien and Lai Chau), Da Nang and the eastern parts of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Lam Dong will also experience hot and intensely hot weather on May 26-27, with some areas experiencing exceptionally intense heat. The highest temperatures will generally range from 36-38 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, and the lowest relative humidity will generally range from 45-50%.

According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, the heatwave in Northern Vietnam is likely to last until around May 27th, gradually easing from May 28th onwards.

In central Vietnam, the heatwave will last until around May 28th, and will subside from May 29th onwards.

The meteorological agency notes that the temperature forecast in heatwave reports and the actual perceived temperature outdoors can differ by 2-4 degrees, or even much more, depending on the proportion of paved roads, concrete surfaces, green spaces, and bodies of water. Inner city areas are generally hotter than suburbs due to the urban heat island effect.
