Ha Trung develops OCOP products

In recent years, Ha Trung district has focused on developing OCOP products to promote the development of agricultural products in the area, leveraging local resources, creating branded goods, increasing product value in conjunction with the National Target Program for Building New Rural Areas, and contributing to improving the lives of the people.

Customers both within and outside the province trust and use OCOP-certified products from Bamboo Vina Production and Trading Co., Ltd., located in Yen Son commune.

As a company specializing in the production of household products from bamboo, over the past three years (2021-2023), Bamboo Vina Production and Trading Co., Ltd. in Yen Son commune has had 7 products recognized as OCOP (One Commune One Product) at the provincial level (5 OCOP 4-star products and 2 OCOP 3-star products), including: kitchen utensil sets, high-end bamboo relaxation chairs, bamboo boxes for Tet candies and snacks, foldable bamboo table and chair sets, BamVina bicycles, BamVina pen holders, and BamVina multi-functional foldable bamboo shelves. The company's products are trusted and chosen by consumers and are available in many stores, supermarkets, and e-commerce platforms.

Ms. Hoang Thi Luat, the company's director, stated: "Our company's products are manufactured using a closed-loop process, including painting, drying, gluing, and hydraulic pressing... ensuring safety for consumers' health and environmental friendliness. Therefore, our products are not only consumed within the province and the country but also exported abroad. Participating in the 'One Commune, One Product' program not only contributes to increasing the commercial value of our products and enhancing their status through the OCOP brand but also helps improve the lives of people in the raw material production areas..."

To effectively implement the "One Commune, One Product" program, the People's Committee of Ha Trung district has focused on implementing policies related to agricultural production development, especially Resolution No. 185/2021/NQ-HĐND dated December 10, 2021, of the Provincial People's Council on promulgating mechanisms and policies for the development of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas in Thanh Hoa province, giai đoạn 2022-2025. Accordingly, the district has directed departments, agencies, communes, and towns to proactively develop specific plans to both improve the quality and value of existing products and continue to develop new products.

The district also intensified its efforts to raise awareness among officials, the public, and economic sectors about the importance and significance of the program. Simultaneously, it directed the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to integrate its activities with the development of program products (from planning, production organization, agricultural extension, and technology transfer); coordinate with relevant agencies to support economic organizations and production households in implementing regulations related to food safety and registering product quality; organize training for economic organizations and business households with ideas for developing OCOP products; support the completion of business plans; improve organizational structure and production and business operations; promote products through mass media, e-commerce platforms, direct sales channels, and other forms; organize market connections and participate in fairs and exhibitions within the province and in other provinces nationwide...

To date, Ha Trung district has developed 23 products that meet OCOP 3-star and 4-star provincial standards; in the first 8 months of 2024 alone, 4 products were developed (3 products were newly evaluated and achieved 3 stars, including: An Khang rice vermicelli from Ha Dong commune; Duong Hoang steamed buns and baked cakes from Ha Trung town; and 1 product was re-certified as 4-star, Tien Son glutinous rice from Ha Linh commune). The products are concentrated in the group of products made from bamboo and rattan (7 products), agricultural products such as: Gia Mieu glutinous rice, Tien Son glutinous rice, Tien Son No. 3 rice, Ha Lai leaf cakes, Ha Yen shrimp paste, snail patties stuffed in bamboo tubes, Quy Huong pear guava, and other products such as: peanut oil, peanut candy, reishi mushrooms, fermented rice wine...

Comrade Nguyen Van Thinh, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of the district, said: “With the goal of developing OCOP products based on the local strengths, Ha Trung focuses on promoting and encouraging businesses and production facilities to prioritize product quality so that each OCOP product not only brings economic value but also contributes to promoting and introducing the district's distinctive products to customers inside and outside the province. The successful implementation of the One Commune One Product program aims to develop the production of advantageous products and services, contributing to economic restructuring and improving the income and living standards of the people. To realize this goal, Ha Trung district has determined that it must make concerted efforts to implement solutions to build strong and sustainable key products. At the same time, it will strengthen inspection, supervision, and evaluation of the production, business, and management activities of OCOP-certified businesses and production facilities to develop appropriate solutions for product development and support for the entities.”
