Hai Phong is a port city, the largest industrial and seaport center in Northern Vietnam. It is also the economic , cultural, commercial, and tourism hub of the Northern coastal region. As the third largest city in the country and one of the five centrally-governed cities, a national-level urban center of the first class, Hai Phong aspires to reach greater heights and expand further, becoming one of the leading engines and driving forces of growth in the Red River Delta key economic region, a place of dynamic convergence and development in all aspects.

Through the photo series "Hai Phong: Aspiration to Soar High" by author Pham Thanh, you will see that Hai Phong possesses a modern infrastructure system along with favorable natural conditions. Hai Phong is determined to reach out to the world , realizing its vision of becoming a global maritime city and an international-class marine tourism center by 2050. The photo series was submitted by the author to the Happy Vietnam Photo and Video Contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications .

Hai Phong will develop based on three main pillars: port services; green, smart, and modern industries; and, in particular, the development of an international marine tourism center.

According to the report presented at the Hai Phong City Planning Appraisal Conference for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the plan aims to develop the city by 2030 into a major seaport city, a crossroads of one of the most vibrant economic triangles: Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, playing a driving role in the development of the Northern region and the whole country.

Dragon Hill International Tourism (Do Son) is a hub for large-scale, dynamic coastal development projects.

By 2050, Hai Phong aims to become a global maritime city with a high level of development and a good living environment, on par with leading port cities in Asia and the world.

The historic Rào Bridge has been replaced by a new, spacious, and modern Rào Bridge.

The Hoang Van Thu Bridge connects the old city center with the new administrative center.

Hai Phong, a port city, is a constant hub for cargo ships heading out to sea.

One of Hai Phong's first steps in realizing its 2050 vision is the planning and construction of the Nam Do Son Port, linked to the establishment of the South Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone; connecting to the coastal expressway and Tien Lang airport; and expanding the space for marine economic development.

This development objective plays a crucial role in the economic restructuring process of Hai Phong in particular and Vietnam in general; it helps expand regional linkages, leverage regional advantages, promote strong trade, and create momentum for the overall economic development of the entire region.
