Millions of people participate in the program 'Moving Forward with Vietnam'

The Organizing Committee recorded that more than 1 million people participated in the walk 'Moving Forward with Vietnam' in the capital Hanoi and 33 provinces and cities, 3,121 communes, wards and special zones.

On August 16, the Hoan Kiem Lake walking street area turned into a sea of ​​people wearing red flags with yellow stars, participating in the national walking program "Moving Forward with Vietnam."

In addition to the central bridge point of Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi , the activity received the participation of people and armed forces in 34 provinces and cities and 3,121 out of 3,321 communes, wards and administrative zones nationwide.

“Moving Forward with Vietnam” is an unprecedented community event of profound political and social significance, taking place in the context of the country entering a new development stage with the rearrangement of administrative units.

With the message “1 billion steps into the new era,” the program is not only a sports activity responding to the campaign “All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho” and the movement “Healthy to build and protect the Fatherland,” but also a journey connecting millions of hearts, converging all generations and classes of people from urban to rural, mountainous, remote and isolated areas, together towards the goal of building a united, strong and sustainable Vietnam.

From July 25 to August 16, people across the country actively registered online through the official portal cungvietnamtienbuoc.nhandan.vn to contribute to the journey of “1 billion steps.” Each step recorded through the program’s digital platform is a “green step,” contributing to reducing carbon emissions, raising awareness of environmental protection and moving towards the country’s Net Zero goal.

At the launching ceremony on the morning of August 16, hundreds of thousands of participants nationwide wore red shirts with yellow stars, headed to the historic Ba Dinh Square to watch the national flag raising ceremony, sang the national anthem and walked in the localities. The event not only demonstrated patriotism and solidarity but also affirmed the role of the People's Public Security force in linking the work of ensuring security and order with sustainable social development, building a movement for the entire people to protect national security.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Co-Head of the Program Steering Committee, shared: “With the mission of the leading press agency of the country, Nhan Dan Newspaper has coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to organize the program 'Forwarding with Vietnam', spreading the spirit of solidarity, arousing national pride and contributing to social, environmental and health goals.”

Mr. Le Quoc Minh affirmed that this is not only a sporting event but also a journey of millions of hearts beating in unison - a place where all generations and all classes of people from urban to rural, mountainous, remote and isolated areas converge for a united, strong Vietnam, ready to step into a new era - an era of national aspirations, for a powerful future.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Co-Head of the Steering Committee, affirmed that the People's Public Security force has been a pioneer in organizing, mobilizing and participating in the program, with the participation of thousands of officers and soldiers from the commune to the provincial level.

This is not only a physical activity but also a campaign to propagate the law, prevent crime, strengthen people's security, and contribute to building the image of a healthy, safe and responsible Vietnam in the eyes of international friends./.

Up to this point, the Organizing Committee has recorded preliminary participation data in Hanoi Capital and 33 provinces and cities, 3,121 communes, wards and special zones with the following results:

(1) Number of provinces and cities organizing: 34/34.

(2) Number of communes, wards and special zones organized 3121/3321.

(3) Communes, wards, and special zones that combine walking with specialized propaganda according to the Plan are: 1459/3321.

(4) Total number of participants at the connection points: 1,112,336 people

(5) Total number of online registrants: 138,248 people, with accumulated steps of 261,404,515 steps.
