The news of the upcoming vote to upgrade Vietnam’s stock market has created excitement among investors. With strong belief in a positive outcome, buying power was pushed up right from the start of the session.
On the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, after opening, the strong cash flow helped the representative index of the floor to soon show green. By lunchtime, the VN-Index temporarily stopped at 1,679.1 points, up 33.28 points.

At the end of the session, demand continued to increase, helping the market break out further. At the end of the session, VN-Index stopped at 1,695.5 points, up 49.68 points (3.02%); VN30-Index reached 1,918.97 points after "increasing" 59.46 points (3.2%).
Green color almost covered the electronic trading board when there were 259 codes increasing in price, 3.8 times the number of codes decreasing (68 codes). Notably, in the VN30 group, only LPB was red, the rest increased in price; in which SSI, VPB, VRE increased to the ceiling.
Cash flow was strong in the market, so no industry group lost points. The group of securities stocks - which are expected to benefit greatly if the stock market is upgraded - was the highlight of the session. Most codes increased in price, many of which increased to the limit such as SSI, VIX, VCI, VND, HCM, SHS, ORS, VDS, AGR, CTS... However, this group has a not-so-large capitalization, so the impact on the VN-Index is not clear.
The banking group has many large-cap stocks that contribute a lot to the overall market growth. Of the 10 stocks that contributed the most points with a total of nearly 25 points, the banking group contributed 7 stocks. VCB and VPB contributed 4.47 points and 3.9 points respectively, CTG contributed 1.99 points, TCB (1.71 points)... The stocks VIC, HPG, VHM contributed 2.83 points, 2.82 points, 2.55 points respectively.
Total market liquidity reached over VND32,000 billion. Foreign investors were net sellers with a purchase value of over VND3,125 billion and a sale value of nearly VND4,982 billion.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, total transactions reached over VND2,300 billion. At the end of the session, the HNX-Index increased by 8.94 points (3.36%), reaching 274.69 points; the HNX30-Index stopped at 595.86 points after increasing by 26.85 points (4.72%).
