The two banks of the Thu River are in contrast.
For months now, the northern end of the Song Thu bridge, the Dai Thang resettlement area (Phu Thuan commune), has been bustling with activity at night. People from Zone B of the former Dai Loc district and the southern bank of Thu Bon commune gather there to enjoy various food, drink, and wholesome entertainment services.
As a local resident, Mr. Vuong shared that since the Dai Thang resettlement area, serving the road project connecting National Highway 14H to Provincial Road 609C, was completed, and the An Binh bridge became accessible to motorbikes and pedestrians, the people who were allocated resettlement land have built houses, and many households have opened businesses, turning the area into a bustling night market.
Conversely, on the southern bank of the Song Thu bridge, it is very quiet at night. On the access road from the beginning of the project to the southern bridge abutment, many sections are not yet open due to obstructions from people's houses.

Near the bridge abutment, the contractor has only paved half of the road surface because two households, those of Thai Van Tai and Thai Nam (represented by his son Thai Chin), have not yet been relocated. After persuasion, Mr. Thai Chin agreed to receive an advance of 1 billion VND to hand over a portion of the land for the construction of the aforementioned half of the access road.
Mr. Tran Canh Ha, Deputy Director of the Quang Nam Investment and Construction Project Management Board for Transportation Works (under the Da Nang City People's Committee), said that the section through Thu Bon commune has had 3.7/4.1km of land handed over. A total of 0.4km remains uncompleted, concentrated in 3 sections.
The biggest challenge lies in the four cases requiring complete demolition and resettlement. For example, at the initial intersection, one household and the local authorities had previously agreed on a resettlement plot (behind their existing house), but no land allocation decision has yet been made.
To expedite the process, the leaders of Duy Xuyen (formerly) and related units visited the family three times to persuade them to accept an advance payment to hand over the land, but the family refused, claiming the compensation was too low...
The An Binh bridge access road is still unfinished.
The An Binh Bridge was opened for technical traffic on March 23, 2025, but to date, the contractor has not continued construction to complete the entire road project connecting DT609C to National Highway 14B.

In particular, the northern section of the bridge leading to the intersection with provincial road DT609 (Ha Nha commune) appears to be open to the naked eye, but construction has not resumed. When it rains, the slippery surface makes it very difficult to control motorcycles.
According to the investor ( Quang Nam Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works), this section, which passes through a residential area, is only about 50 meters long, but it is currently still obstructed by land belonging to three households.
Along the southern bank, the Dai Minh resettlement area was completed a long time ago; however, the initial section connecting to DT609C is still not fully operational.
The investor stated that this section is approximately 420 meters long, and currently 47 households are affected by land clearance (17 of which will be completely relocated). Significantly, although the resettlement area has been completed, the compensation plans have not yet been submitted for appraisal, and no meetings have been held to consider resettlement for the households completely relocated.
The relocation of technical infrastructure such as electricity and fiber optic cables passing through residential areas has stalled.

Recently, the investor has requested the People's Committee of the city to direct relevant departments and agencies to advise on adjusting the land price list for the period 2020-2024, which was approved by the People's Committee of Quang Nam province (formerly) in Decision No. 23 dated March 31, 2025.
Based on this, the Da Nang City Land Development Center - Branch 12 and the communes of Ha Nha and Vu Gia have a basis to carry out compensation and land clearance work.
Directing relevant departments and agencies to advise on resolving difficulties regarding sand for embankment for the project (approximately 12,000 m3 of sand is still needed); agreeing on the principle of extending the project implementation time until the end of 2026.
The project connecting National Highway 14H to Provincial Road 609C has an approved total investment of over 378 billion VND from the local budget. The project has a total length of 6km (including 0.9km utilizing the existing road); of which the Song Thu bridge over the Thu Bon River is 669m long. The project connecting Provincial Road 609C to National Highway 14B has a total investment of 550 billion VND (with 440 billion VND supported by the central government). The total length of the project is 3.93km; of which the An Binh bridge over the Vu Gia River is 1,060.45m long.
