Happiness comes from simple things.

Located in one of the most remote and disadvantaged areas of Hoa Binh province, Cao Son Primary and Secondary School faces numerous challenges, particularly regarding its inadequate clean water supply and dilapidated, unsafe toilets. Specifically, the school lacks handwashing facilities with clean water and soap/disinfectant for students. Therefore, investing in the renovation of toilets and the clean water system will ensure hygienic school conditions and attract the participation of various social resources to invest in the right direction for students, creating a learning environment that is "friendly and conducive to student health."

From June 2012, 2024, the Vietnam General Education Innovation Support Fund (VIGEF), in collaboration with the social enterprise MSD United Way Vietnam, Viettel Money, and the fundraising platform GIVENOW, officially launched the project "Creating Happy Schools - Bringing Joy to Schools and Opportunities for Equal, Modern Education and Holistic Development for 1500 Students in the Highlands of Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, and Ha Giang" with a series of fundraising phases.

From June to July 2024, the project successfully implemented Phase 1 of the "Ambassador of Adequate Water" project, raising over 100 million VND to support the renovation of 5 facilities, providing 555 students at Cao Son School with water filters and cleaner toilets.

In addition, the project also organized the "Ambassador of Abundant Water" event, creating a fun summer playground while communicating messages about using clean water rationally, properly, economically, and protecting personal hygiene for students at Cao Son Primary and Secondary School.

The students were excited to learn about the importance of clean water, the need to drink water boiled to 100 degrees Celsius, how to protect and conserve clean water resources, and the six steps of handwashing according to the Ministry of Health 's standards…

The students enthusiastically danced the handwashing folk dance with player Nham Manh Dung from Viettel Sport team.

Also during the "Ambassador of Abundant Water" event, sponsoring organizations, in coordination with the Education Department of Da Bac district, organized the donation of more than 5000 gifts to students in mountainous areas attending schools in Da Bac district.

Representing Viettel Money, Mr. Pham Thai Son participated in the event, interacted with the students, and pledged to support the creation of happy schools. Every action, no matter how small, contributes to making a big difference in society. Viettel Money hopes to receive the cooperation and support of Viettel employees in the goal of creating a new life and providing better development opportunities for children in remote areas.

Happy schools may seem like something far-fetched, but they can also be very simple things for the disadvantaged children from mountainous regions and ethnic minorities that the project encountered during its field trips and surveys to build happy schools and provide equitable education across Vietnam.

Mr. Dang Tu An, Director of VIGEF, along with the sponsoring unit, presented gifts to the students.

Mr. Dang Tu An, Director of VIGEF, shared: "I sincerely hope that these small lessons and initial support for improving water and sanitation will help meet the basic conditions for schools in creating a safe and adequate learning environment for students in the process of building happy schools. Happy schools bring joy to students, so these small joys will contribute to a feeling of happiness, creating motivation for them to come to school and optimize their potential."

Renovating the school cafeteria.
Phase 2 of the project, launched in July-August 2024, will continue the "Creating Happy Schools" initiative: Renovating the school canteen for 605 students.
The project, "Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School in Khao Mang, Yen Bai," aims to improve the quality of the school's cafeteria and kitchen, thereby ensuring "A Satisfying Meals" for ethnic minority students at Khao Mang Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School in Khao Mang commune, Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province.
