The "Three Responsibilities" movement will shine brightly forever.
Throughout the history of our country, every period has been marked by the immense contributions of Vietnamese women to the survival of the nation.
Over the past 94 years, the Vietnam Women's Union has grown steadily with many vibrant emulation movements, leaving a strong mark - including the active contributions of women in Hanoi.
During the two wars of resistance, under the direct leadership of the Hanoi Party Committee, with fervent patriotism, Hanoi women bravely and enthusiastically participated in uprisings to seize and maintain power, actively engaging in emulation movements such as: eliminating hunger, illiteracy, and foreign invaders; the "Five Goods" emulation movement, "all for the front lines," and "For our beloved South, each person works twice as hard."
In particular, the "Three Responsibilities" women's movement attracted a large number of women in the capital who, undeterred by hardship and sacrifice, were responsible in production and work; responsible in family life; and responsible in serving and being ready for combat, contributing to the victory of the resistance war against French colonialism and American imperialism, liberating the capital, liberating the South, and unifying the country.
Returning to the origins of the "Three Responsibilities" movement, in February 1965, the US imperialists launched a war of destruction using air and naval forces throughout most of North Vietnam. In response to the frenzied bombing raids by the American enemy, the entire population was filled with fervent fighting spirit, culminating in movements such as the "Three Ready Youth" movement, the "Three High Points" movement of cadres, workers, and civil servants, and the "Three Resolutions of Intellectuals"...
At that time, the Executive Committee of the Women's Union of Dan Phuong district (formerly Ha Tay province - now Hanoi) launched the "Three Responsibilities" movement. President Ho Chi Minh paid great attention to this movement, instructing that the term "Three Responsibilities" be changed to "Three Capable Women" to better reflect the qualities of Vietnamese women in difficult times.
Initiating numerous emulation movements with unique characteristics.
Entering the period of reform and integration, the Hanoi Women's Union has continued to closely adhere to the city's political tasks, applying and concretizing the emulation movements of the Vietnam Women's Union Central Committee; at the same time, creatively initiating many emulation movements with the unique characteristics of Hanoi women, making a worthy contribution to the cause of building and developing the Capital and the women's movement nationwide.
Inheriting the spirit of "Three Responsibilities," cadres, members, and women of Hanoi continuously strive and train themselves, demonstrating the qualities of "self-confidence, self-respect, loyalty, and responsibility"; making positive, responsible, and enthusiastic contributions to the achievement of the country's socio-economic development goals and gender equality.
During the period 2022-2024, units and branches under the Hanoi Women's Union organized 385 propaganda and mobilization sessions to encourage female cadres and members to participate in the emulation movement to build the "Loyal - Creative - Capable - Elegant" Hanoi woman, and the "Hanoi Women's Beautiful Conduct" campaign; and coordinated 162 propaganda sessions on traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting... for 31,720 female cadres and members.
During the period 2022-2024, 3,367 collectives and 7,514 outstanding individuals in various fields were commended and rewarded by the Association at all levels; 2,462 exemplary individuals were introduced in the mass media.
In 2024 alone, women's associations at all levels throughout the city effectively implemented a special emulation campaign, educating on traditions, acting for women and children, for the community, and actively participating in building new rural areas and civilized urban areas.
With the pride of the women of the capital city, a vibrant spirit of emulation, and high determination, each branch and each level of the Women's Union undertook a practical emulation project or task, resulting in the completion and handover of 770 emulation projects and tasks throughout the city.
These include many effective models of mass mobilization in promoting and encouraging women's participation in environmental protection; building and renovating shelters for the needy; green library projects; schools in mountainous areas; livelihood support, connecting and sponsoring orphaned children; supporting women with disabilities; and exemplary models of conduct in building model cultural residential areas, historical sites, and civilized, safe, and efficient markets…
In 2024, the Hanoi Women's Union honored and awarded the title of "Outstanding Hanoi Woman of 2024" to 10 exemplary women in various fields – women full of energy and enthusiasm, daring to take risks, and always eager to contribute.
These are examples of female doctors passionate about scientific research, who detect infectious bacteria early, helping to reduce treatment time and costs for patients; female educators who are pioneers in building the "Happy Classroom, Happy School" model; female bronze casting artisans who, despite their advanced age, still diligently keep the flame of their traditional craft alive; courageous and resourceful female soldiers on the front lines of the fight against drug trafficking, bringing peace to the people; female workers with innovative technical improvements to increase labor productivity; and exemplary grassroots Women's Union officials who are enthusiastic and dedicated to their work...
"The women are exemplary role models contributing to the vibrant and fragrant garden of 'good people and good deeds' in the capital city," said Le Kim Anh, President of the Hanoi Women's Union.
