Long lines of cars and the spirit of mutual love and support of the community

Large and small convoys of vehicles quietly headed toward the flood-prone areas; no honking, no jostling, just solidarity and a spirit of sharing with fellow countrymen.

These days, while authorities at all levels are mobilizing all their forces to rapidly rebuild houses for people in flooded areas, on the roads leading to areas heavily affected by natural disasters, another stream of people is also persistently supporting them, namely long convoys of relief vehicles, carrying humanity from all over.

Shared trips with fellow countrymen

The road leading to communes heavily affected by the double disaster of "flood on storm" such as Tuy Phuoc Bac, Tuy Phuoc Dong ( Gia Lai province) after the flood still shows signs of devastation, walls collapsed, many houses were torn apart by the raging water. The flood receded more than 10 days ago, but the soil probably has not yet dried, the chaotic scene is still present in every corner of the house, every yard. In the midst of that devastation, convoys of vehicles continuously appeared, adding warm colors.

Large trucks, pickup trucks, 16-seat vehicles, even motorbikes temporarily tied with bags of rice… just kept going. No urgent honking, no jostling, just the spirit of giving way to each other every meter of road and bright red banners saying "Come on, folks", "Towards the flood victims" moved people standing on both sides of the road and they waved goodbye.

At Dong Xanh Park (An Phu Ward, Gia Lai Province), the bustling, warm atmosphere prevailed when 5 "zero-dong vehicles" carrying 30 tons of goods and necessities of Team 81 Gia Lai simultaneously set off for the flood-hit areas in the East of the province. Those vehicles were supported by Phi Ho and Quang Dien Hong, collected from the hearts of many organizations and individuals in the area.

The 30 tons of goods loaded onto the truck included rice, instant noodles, clean water, blankets, and many other essential items. Team Chu Puh contributed 5 tons of rice; Team Tran Duc My sent rice cookers, infrared cookers, electric kettles, the items that people who lost everything after the flood needed the most.

Each crate was carefully sorted and loaded onto trucks, reaching the most severely damaged communes.

Those convoys headed to Cat Tien and Tuy Phuoc Dong communes, where people suffered heavy losses in the recent floods. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, representative of Team 81 Gia Lai shared: "From the beginning of November until now, we have organized 5 emergency relief trips for people in the flooded areas of Gia Lai and Dak Lak , with a total of about 150 tons of goods. We just hope that people will soon overcome the difficulties."

National love, compatriotism

In recent days, cadres, party members and people of Dien Hong ward and Bau Can, Chu Se and Ia Nan communes have donated nearly 1.8 billion VND and tons of necessities to the flooded areas of Gia Lai. The atmosphere of sharing has spread quickly from each residential group to the villages, where people who have just escaped the flood still give small gifts to the more disadvantaged areas.

National love and compatriotism are the bonds that bind Vietnamese people together to overcome all events.

National love and compatriotism are the bonds that bind Vietnamese people together to overcome all events.

In Dien Hong ward alone, responding to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward, people contributed more than 1.32 billion VND and many essential goods. Each box of goods was meticulously classified and loaded onto 12 trucks, reaching the most severely damaged communes. All cash was transferred to the Relief Fund of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province for timely and correct allocation.

The storm and flood have passed, leaving behind a vast void in the lives of people in disaster-stricken areas. But amidst that loss, a value emerges more clearly than ever: national love and compatriotism, the bond that binds the Vietnamese people together to overcome all events.

The image of convoys of vehicles continuing for days to reach the damaged areas is not just a matter of relief. It is the most vivid expression of the spirit of mutual love that is deeply ingrained in the thinking of the Vietnamese people. Wherever we are, when we hear of our fellow countrymen in trouble, we always see the familiar reflex: collecting, sharing, giving what we have to those less fortunate.

Vehicles approaching the area were heavily affected by the floods.

The lessons from this storm and flood are not only in the damage figures, but also in the humane meaning they evoke. The solidarity of the people, the urgent involvement of the government, the military and the police in rebuilding houses have created a stable source of support for people to soon return to normal life.

When the water recedes, the roads dry, and new roofs gradually appear, people will forever remember the days when the whole country turned to the disadvantaged areas. From the heavy burdens of love to the messages of “Keep fighting, people”, all have become valuable spiritual support, helping to soothe the trauma after natural disasters.

Humanity is shown through simple yet powerful actions: “zero dong” buses running through the night; old people gathering a few kilos of rice but still determined to bring them to the donation point; students contributing milk cartons and instant noodle boxes; neighborhood groups and villages voluntarily gathering necessities and then carefully sorting them before sending them. No one needs to acknowledge them, no one needs to show off. The kindness of Vietnamese people is still the same, quiet but warm.
