Opening of the city's symbolic race
The opening ceremony and press conference of the 8th Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon took place on December 5 under the direction of the City People's Committee, Department of Tourism, Department of Culture and Sports and the Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation. Techcombank is the strategic sponsor, co-organizing with Sunrise Events Vietnam.
The race will officially take place on December 7 with more than 23,000 athletes from 81 countries and territories. The event continues to affirm its position as the largest running race in Vietnam, approaching international standards, attracting the domestic and international running community.

For nearly a decade, Techcombank has spent hundreds of billions of VND each year on community activities. In the 8th season alone, the bank has contributed more than 9 billion VND to many meaningful programs such as supporting people in flood-hit areas, the Ho Chi Minh City "For the Poor" Fund, the Vo Hong Son Center for Children with Disabilities, the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Talent Support Fund, etc. More than 4.2 billion VND was contributed to the Touch of Love Fund to support medical expenses for children with leg deformities.
At the ceremony, the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism emphasized that the race is an opportunity to promote the image of a dynamic and friendly city to tourists; in line with the orientation of tourism development associated with sports and culture.
The tournament is held within the framework of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 2025, contributing to improving the quality of experiences and building green, sustainable destinations.

In the 8th season alone, the bank contributed more than 9 billion VND to many meaningful programs.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the Marathon Village at The Global City of Masterise Homes opened its doors to athletes and fans. The exhibition space introduced Techcombank’s products, financial and technological solutions, and many brands in nutrition, sports, and health. This is where the running community interacted before the race day, and at the same time connected with the space promoting 17 typical destinations on the running route.
Record-breaking awards and spreading the spirit of healthy living
This year's edition introduces the "Vietnam Marathon Record Breaking Tournament" with the highest prize in the country, 120 million VND/tournament, sponsored by Techcom Life. Many top Vietnamese and international athletes are ready to compete such as Nguyen Van Lai, Pham Thi Hong Le, Hua Thuan Long, Edwin Kiptoo, Lilan Kennedy...
A representative of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City said that the race has aroused the spirit of training and the desire to rise up in the community, contributing to building a "city of healthy citizens". This is also the foundation to maintain mass sports activities for all ages, spreading the spirit of "Running for a superior Vietnam".

Techcombank representative affirmed that after nearly a decade of companionship, the bank continues to promote the healthy living movement and inspire a prosperous and confident community. The message "Run for a superior Vietnam" is expected to continue to create a great influence in society.
Sunrise Events Vietnam representative also said that the Organizing Committee is determined to put athletes at the center, ensuring the highest standards from the running track, security, medical care to logistics, bringing a safe and emotional experience to participants.
On December 6, the KIDS RUN will take place at The Global City with more than 1,200 children participating in two distances of 1.5 km and 3 km. This is an annual activity since 2017, contributing to fostering exercise habits and a love of sports for the young generation.
This year, the race continues to be certified by AIMS and the Vietnam Athletics Federation to meet international standards. The third mass sports introduction program continues to accompany the event. The entire tournament will be broadcast live on HTV Sports and digital platforms of HTV and Techcombank.
The 8th Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon will take place on December 7, 2025. More than 23,000 athletes from 81 countries and territories will participate. Techcombank will contribute more than VND 13 billion to community activities this season. The Marathon Village will be held at The Global City from December 5 to 7. The race is certified by AIMS as meeting international standards for distance.
