Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam , our nation has achieved success in all aspects of economic, political, social, security, and defense life.

The success of the Doi Moi (Renovation) process is a clear testament to the Party's correct and wise leadership, as well as the people's trust in the Party. In this article, the author analyzes the Doi Moi process and its contemporary significance in building a new era – an era of socialism with prosperity and flourishing.

Our Party was both the initiator and leader of the Renovation (Doi Moi) in Vietnam. This event has been described by many economic experts as "earth-shattering." Renovation was born in a truly unique historical context and journey, and from there, drawing on the successes achieved by the Renovation process, the author highlights the contemporary significance of this event for the next "Renovation" of the Vietnamese nation, aiming towards a new era – an era of national resurgence.

The journey of Renovation where the Party's will and the people's aspirations beat as one.

Mentioning the Doi Moi (Renovation) period brings back historical moments from the 1980s of the 20th century for the Vietnamese nation, or allows us to reflect on and recall the historical milestone of the 6th National Party Congress (December 1986). It was precisely amidst these historical challenges and twists and turns that the Party's will and the people's aspirations beat in unison, implementing the steps of Doi Moi.

These steps represent the journeys in which the Party needs the people, and the people always stand by the Party, under the Party's banner of call to action, to fulfill the great responsibilities of building a prosperous and radiant Vietnam as it is today, as the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once affirmed: "With all humility, we can still say that our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position, and international prestige as it does today."

In the early 1980s, facing domestic difficulties as well as those of the socialist bloc countries in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, our Party convened a meeting to analyze the domestic and international situation and formulated the Resolution of the 6th Conference of the Central Committee of the 4th Party Congress (August 1979). This resolution advocated mobilizing and encouraging all workers, all productive forces, and all economic sectors to increase production and improve the extremely difficult living conditions of the people.

Following this, the Central Committee of the Party convened and issued Directive No. 100 of the Central Secretariat on January 13, 1981, on product quotas for groups and individual workers in agricultural cooperatives, which created a tremendous leap forward in agricultural production. This was one of the Party's first resolutions that opened a new direction in supporting and promoting domestic production to address challenges and difficulties and improve the lives of the people.

In the early 1980s, the socio-economic situation in our country remained very difficult and tense, with inflation soaring to runaway levels, especially after two comprehensive adjustments of prices, wages, and currency.

All the socio-economic difficulties in our country at that time had both subjective and objective causes, which our Party recognized and assessed in the Political Reports of the Central Committee presented to the Sixth Congress as follows: "We were both subjectively hasty and conservative and stagnant; in reality, these two aspects coexisted and both hindered the progress of the revolution."

Facing the pivotal moments of history, our Party, with its mission as the guiding force of the Vietnamese revolution, has truly understood the aspirations of the people and deeply grasped the realities of the Vietnamese revolution. From this understanding, it has promptly formulated the correct , timely, appropriate, and historically relevant path of Renewal, affirming that our Party is both the Party of the class and the Party of the Vietnamese nation. In this context, the Party and the people share a common will and unwavering faith in building a prosperous and glorious Vietnam in the future.

The contemporary significance and lessons learned from Innovation in the New Era

Looking deeper into the Doi Moi (Renovation) process, we see that the Party's innovative and groundbreaking thinking has been consistent from its founding, as well as throughout its leadership of the Vietnamese revolution.

The success of the Doi Moi (Renovation) process led by the Communist Party of Vietnam is a historically significant lesson, demonstrating the correctness and creativity of the Party's leadership in the revolution. It also affirms a spirit recently reiterated by General Secretary To Lam in his opening speech at the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front: "Our Party has no interests other than the interests of the people; the people are the center and subject of all the Party's policies and guidelines; all the efforts of the Party, the State, and the entire political system are only meaningful when the people have a prosperous and happy life."

The successes achieved after 40 years of the Doi Moi (Renovation) process in Vietnam today provide invaluable lessons of paramount importance for Vietnam to continue its Renovation in the new era.

The first lesson is the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the decisive factor in all the victories of the Vietnamese revolution. In the process of reform, we must steadfastly adhere to the goal of national independence and socialism on the foundation of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, which serves as the guiding principle for all the Party's actions.

Innovation in Vietnam is not about "changing colors." Innovation in Vietnam must consistently uphold the spirit of not abandoning the goal of socialism, but rather requires a more accurate and realistic understanding of the country's practical situation to formulate a correct revolutionary path, consistent with economic laws, and to effectively resolve the relationships between economics, politics, and society. This will clarify the historical mission of the working class and the Communist Party of Vietnam in leading the revolution in our country in accordance with the historical laws of human society.

Therefore, the reforms in Vietnam aim to make socialism more correctly understood, more effectively built, and especially to create differences and "strong antibodies" to overcome obstacles called "crises," thereby moving towards a beautiful, prosperous, and radiant society like today, which our people are witnessing, mastering, and especially enjoying the fruits of.

The second lesson concerns the art of leadership and seizing opportunities in the Renovation process. Renovation must be implemented comprehensively and synchronously, but it must still ensure continuity, appropriate steps, and correct forms and implementation methods.

The success of the Doi Moi (Renovation) over the past 40 years has shown that innovation must begin with awareness, thinking, and practical activities in socio-economic life, starting from economics, politics, foreign relations, and extending to all areas of social life...

Effectively resolving the relationship between theory and practice—where theory guides practice, and practice serves as a standard for "examining" and supplementing theory—is the dialectical relationship pointed out by Marxism-Leninism, and which our Party has creatively applied in the Renovation process.

The third lesson is about the Party relying on the people, unleashing the strength within the people, developing national internal resources with the factors of the times, and leading the entire Vietnamese nation to firmly follow the Party.

Looking back after nearly four decades of Doi Moi (Renovation), the journey of the Party leading the Vietnamese people has achieved many great accomplishments, or in other words, the Party has guided and accompanied the nation on the path of creating historical milestones in the new era.

Thus, it can be seen here that the Party leads the entire Vietnamese nation in promoting national unity (unity within the Party - unity among the people - unity between the Party and the people - unity between the nation and humanity), creating the highest crystallization of national strength and the strength of the era, thereby affirming the shining truth that the Communist Party of Vietnam is the Party of the Vietnamese nation.

Lesson four: the correct and creative choice and resolution between a market economy and socialist orientation in Vietnam.

The Party chose a market economy with a socialist orientation to achieve the successes it has today .

The victory of the Vietnamese revolution with the comprehensive renovation of the country's economy, politics, and society, guided by the principle of linking economic reform with political and social reform—meaning the choice to prioritize economic reform, gradually transitioning to political and social reform (the relationship between economic and political dialectics)—is a clear and evident testament to this.

Lesson five: on igniting the aspiration for strength and prosperity in the New Era - the era of a prosperous and glorious nation.

The Party has correctly identified and seized the opportune moment for the country to rise with the nation in the new era towards socialism, a society of prosperity and glory. Correctly identifying the goals and opportunities plays an extremely important role in successfully carrying out revolutionary tasks, enabling our nation to enter a new era, an era of national progress, when we have the ripe conditions in terms of strength and position, combining national strength and the strength of the times to carry out a revolution of Renewal within Renewal, building a prosperous and glorious Vietnam.

Thus, it can be seen that through the journey of Renovation, with the achievements of nearly 40 years of Renovation, the successes and lessons learned have proven a correct truth: the people's trust in the Party is increasingly strengthened. This trust demonstrates the unity and solidarity between the people and the Party in building a strong foundation of public support, successfully implementing the Renovation initiated and led by the Party, thereby creating a solid foundation and strength for the country to confidently enter a new era – an era of national progress, an era of prosperity and glory.
