Hát Đúm in the lives of the people of Hai Phong
Hát Đúm can take place on the road, in the fields, or at any suitable location. Hát Đúm has clear and strict rules. The male and female singers are usually of the same age, and they must not use incomprehensible words for their singing partners and must not stop midway. Many young couples have gotten married after these romantic and passionate Hát Đúm sessions. For older people, Hát Đúm is also a way to convey life experiences, labor and production knowledge, or to praise the beauty of nature, the country, and its people. This folk song, which originated in a working environment and later became part of the Hát Đúm festival in Thủy Nguyên, has become deeply ingrained in the lives of the local people.
