From female police officer hunting down wanted criminals to a community outreach worker.

Few people know that, before becoming an energetic traffic police propagandist, Major Doan Ngoc Huyen spent a long time honing her skills in a challenging environment. From 2011 to 2018, she worked at the Criminal Fugitive Apprehension Department. As the unit's Youth Union Secretary, she not only performed her professional duties well but also inspired various activities and movements.

This period shaped Major Doan Ngoc Huyen into a strong-willed yet compassionate individual. She regularly organized volunteer and charitable programs in remote mountainous areas, bringing warmth and sharing to those in need. The foundation laid by these practical experiences and her skills in mobilizing the masses as a youth leader provided a crucial basis for her later career breakthrough.

In 2019, Major Doan Ngoc Huyen officially transferred to work at the Traffic Police Department (Hanoi City Police). Not content with just practical experience, she always focused on improving her theoretical and scientific knowledge. In 2020, she successfully defended a basic-level scientific research project, demonstrating her sharp thinking and serious dedication to her profession.

Currently, Major Doan Ngoc Huyen's main area of work is promoting traffic order and safety among students. This is a strategic task, because educating students about traffic safety is building the foundation for a civilized traffic society in the future.

Her work demands meticulous attention to detail and keen advisory skills. In particular, recognizing the reality that many students, despite using motorbikes, still lack the necessary situational awareness, she proactively advised on the development of a plan in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to promote safe motorbike riding skills among high school students and vocational education institutions.

Nguyen Thi Hong, Principal of Trung Van High School, said: "The safe driving skills training program organized by the Hanoi Traffic Police Department is a practical and meaningful activity for students. The school always prioritizes equipping students with knowledge and skills for safe participation in traffic, thereby contributing to accident prevention and building a culture of safe driving. We hope that after the training session, students will improve their awareness of traffic laws and apply them effectively in practice."

Furthermore, Major Doan Ngoc Huyen also directly conducted dozens of awareness campaigns for passenger and cargo transport units in the capital city, contributing to improving the culture and compliance awareness of drivers and assistants in ensuring traffic safety and order.

Besides her primary role in propaganda, Major Doan Ngoc Huyen also works closely with her colleagues in monitoring the fight against crime by traffic safety and security forces, ensuring security and order in all aspects.

Most recently, Major Doan Ngoc Huyen and her colleagues marched in unison through the heart of the capital city as part of the female traffic police parade at the "Festival for a Peaceful Capital" to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd; the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People's Police (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for Protecting National Security (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025).

To achieve their radiant, fresh appearance, confident stride, and outstanding presence, Major Doan Ngoc Huyen and the female officers of the Hanoi traffic police force spent more than a month training on the field under the harsh sun and wind, facing difficulties and hardships, but filled with pride.

Touching memories and "telling numbers"

Although she only recently transitioned to propaganda work, Major Doan Ngoc Huyen has made a remarkable impact. Her most memorable experience was her first time standing on the podium to deliver a speech in early September 2025 at Dong Da Secondary School.

“When the sharing session ended, the students' enthusiasm surprised me. Many expressed a wish for the program to last longer, even running after me to the school gate to ask questions and share their dreams of becoming traffic police officers like me. Those innocent smiles and sincere feelings moved and delighted me deeply. That is the motivation that drives me to continue advising the unit commander to coordinate with the City Traffic Safety Committee and schools to implement even more meaningful programs,” said Major Doan Ngoc Huyen.

Participating in the safe motorcycle driving skills training program organized by the Traffic Police Department and led by Major Doan Ngoc Huyen, Bui Xuan Kien, a 12th-grade student from Trung Van High School, said that the training session was very useful. “Ms. Huyen helped me understand traffic regulations better and allowed me to directly practice handling situations. This knowledge will help me and my classmates be more confident and safer when participating in traffic every day,” said Bui Xuan Kien.

To date, Major Doan Ngoc Huyen's "legacy" in propaganda work has achieved impressive numbers, including directly conducting propaganda at more than 20 schools in Hanoi; organizing approximately 30 thematic talks for 45,000 students and teachers; and mobilizing and donating about 5,000 helmets and 5,000 notebooks to students.

Major Doan Ngoc Huyen's efforts were not only well-received by the students but also recognized and highly appreciated by her colleagues. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Tien, a colleague from the same unit, shared that, despite transferring to the Propaganda Team only a short time ago, with the support of the Command Board and her self-learning spirit, Major Doan Ngoc Huyen quickly adapted to and mastered the job.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Tien commented: "Major Doan Ngoc Huyen is a positive force within the Hanoi Traffic Police Department in disseminating legal information and providing safe driving guidance to students."

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tai Nghia, Deputy Head of the Propaganda, Investigation, Accident Resolution and Traffic Violation Handling Team (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police), said that Major Doan Ngoc Huyen is an exemplary officer and Party member, always enthusiastic, dynamic and creative in her work, daring to think, daring to act and daring to take responsibility before the collective.

“Comrade [name] is a dedicated and hardworking young officer with a simple lifestyle and a willingness to help others. In carrying out his assigned professional duties, he always demonstrates dynamism and enthusiasm, actively researching and advising the unit's leadership on implementing traffic safety awareness campaigns for students,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tai Nghia.

Thanks to her efforts, dedication, and outstanding achievements, from 2019 to the present, Major Doan Ngoc Huyen has been honored with Certificates of Commendation from the Ministry of Public Security, Certificates of Merit from the Traffic Police Department, and numerous Certificates of Merit from the Director of the Hanoi City Police Department.

For Major Doan Ngoc Huyen, each awareness campaign is not just about conveying dry regulations, but about sowing seeds of awareness and protecting the peace and safety of students whenever they come to school. Her persistent efforts are contributing to enhancing the image of Hanoi's police officers as "courageous, humane, and dedicated to serving the people."
