The stories of green beret soldier Nguyen Sy Cong are vivid evidence that help readers visualize more clearly the life on the front line, where dangers lurk every hour.

Choosing to set out and commit himself, Lieutenant Nguyen Sy Cong, while on duty in South Sudan, inspired peace and hope. Participating in an international mission, his journey not only completed the work of curing and saving people but also shaped the country, bringing smiles to children and people in Africa.

In this work, soldiers do not directly hold guns but still have their own way to keep peace by completing their missions well and spreading positive spirit.

Nguyen Sy Cong confided: “There are many different ways to show patriotism and contribute to making the country famous to international friends. But the simplest way is that each individual must always try to fulfill their duties and responsibilities in the most professional manner. Just that much is enough to receive high appreciation from everyone around. I believe this is also a way to promote the image of the country and Vietnamese people in a more authentic and convincing way than any invitation.”

Choosing to shine in his own way, Lieutenant Nguyen Sy Cong's journey is a pioneer for a young generation who dares to commit and experience for the ideal of peace and progress of the world . In the pages of the book, through the stories and images, smiles are always present on his face and his comrades' faces. All are like a miracle drug, erasing the hardships and tensions on the front line.

Lieutenant Colonel, obstetrician Bui Thi Thu Trang - a colleague of the author at Level 2 Field Hospital No. 4 - shared: "Cong's touching, authentic and humane stories may help readers understand the difficulties but also the pride, the happy and sad stories that perhaps many of Cong's teammates will only experience once in their lives but will never forget."

She added: "This autobiography is a source of pride for our ancestors and predecessors for their dedication to the peacekeeping cause of the Vietnamese army. Through the stories of young people, the words may not be polished, but they are the true feelings of the narrator and writer sent to the readers."

Drawing the shape of the country with friends from all over the world

Amidst the vast gray and bitterness of poverty and civil war, in this work, the picture of Africa still sparkles with simple happiness in the eyes of Vietnamese peace messengers. There, the heroes without capes spread the image of a resilient and indomitable Vietnam, but also very familiar.

In the base area, on the flagpoles or in volunteer programs, the image of Vietnamese soldiers through the eyes of international friends is active in sports events, military parades, professional exchanges, joint training with other countries to learn from each other...

Image from book

Through the stories and photo series from Vietnam Blue Berets - Sowers of Peace, readers will always see the image of the red flag with yellow star fluttering in the sky, the proud presence of the country's map, see the face of each soldier always beaming with smiles and see the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers through beautiful actions.

And thousands of miles away, the image of the country is still clearly visible through the Ao Dai, Vietnamese New Year, the loud shouts of “saluting the flag” or the volunteer activities in schools and villages that are actively promoted. Sy Cong and his teammates pay special attention to the children and young citizens of South Sudan.

Nam Kha, the writer of the book, shared: “I proactively texted Sy Cong, hoping that he would tell me more about the difficulties and challenges that the green beret soldiers had to face when carrying out their missions far away, more than 8,500 kilometers from their homeland Vietnam. Listening and taking notes - first to satisfy my curiosity and love of discovery as a journalist, and then to write down to share with young readers everywhere, hoping to partly answer the question “What is peace?”, thereby contributing to fostering love for the country in the hearts of each of us young people.”

Sowing a dream, a career ideal or a beautiful life inspiration from the pages of a book is not a strange thing. The journey in Vietnam Green Berets: The Sower of Peace opens and inspires many generations of readers about a difficult, arduous but extremely proud mission. Believe that, after putting the book down, there will be a generation of new volunteers who voluntarily register to go to the eye of the storm. All for the belief in a peaceful world on the land of Africa from peace-loving Vietnamese citizens.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnamese "Blue Berets", at 9:00 a.m. on June 8, Kim Dong Publishing House will organize a book launch of the Vietnamese Blue Berets: Sowers of Peace at stage A, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street.
