Innovating methods of serving the people.
To concretize the directives of the Provincial People's Committee and local authorities on promoting administrative reform in the new phase, from mid-May 2026, the People's Committee of Hiep Thanh commune officially put into operation the "Wednesday Service - Timely and On-Time Resolution" model. Accordingly, this model is organized every Wednesday, focusing on resolving three administrative procedures in the socio-cultural field on the same day, including: transferring secondary school students to other schools, visiting martyrs' graves, and registering additional religious activities at the commune level.
The main goal that the commune government is aiming for is to provide results to organizations and citizens on the same day for complete and properly submitted applications, without requiring them to wait for the previously scheduled deadline. Thanks to thorough preparation, the Commune Public Administrative Service Center has proactively coordinated closely with specialized departments to publicly and transparently display the entire list of procedures on the commune's website; strengthened guidance for citizens in completing applications, and promoted the application of information technology and the use of online public services in resolving administrative procedures.
In addition, the model is regularly publicized through the local radio system and information channels; youth union members, young people, and militia are also mobilized to support people at the commune's Public Administrative Service Center, contributing to improving service quality and creating a friendly and professional image of the local government.
From consensus to expansion of the model
The practical effectiveness of the "Service Wednesday" is clearly demonstrated by the positive feedback and enthusiasm of the people who come to conduct transactions. A typical example is Ms. Trinh Thi Hoang, a local resident who came to complete the procedures for visiting the graves of martyrs in her hometown, Tam Quan ward, Gia Lai province. Ms. Hoang said that even though she arrived at the center late in the afternoon with only a handwritten application, she received attentive guidance from the staff. After only 30 minutes of waiting, all her procedures were completed meticulously, exceeding her expectations. "This is the first time I've come to complete the procedures to return home to visit the graves of martyrs, and I didn't think the procedures would be handled so quickly and efficiently," said Ms. Trinh Thi Hoang.
This efficiency and transparency have fostered trust and high praise from the people regarding the sense of responsibility of the commune's officials and civil servants.
Evaluating the operational process, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hiep Thanh commune - said that Wednesday was chosen because it is the middle of the week, reducing meeting schedules and allowing officials to focus more and avoid rushing in processing documents. Although there were some initial difficulties, the model has now become well-established, helping to resolve work quickly and minimize delays in processing documents; at the same time, gradually increasing the rate of documents processed ahead of schedule.
In the coming period, the People's Committee of the commune will continue to direct specialized departments to advise and propose the addition of other urgent procedures to the model, such as: resolving retirement benefits, elderly benefits, death benefits, or judicial matters, in order to further improve the quality of service and build a transparent, modern, and people-serving public administration.
