According to Hothardware , the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED is a laptop equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H CPU from the Meteor Lake generation, including 6 Redwood P cores clocked at up to 4.8 GHz, 8 Crestmont E cores clocked at up to 3.8 GHz, and 2 additional low-power LP-E cores.
Meteor Lake processors will benefit from the new BIOS update.
After updating to the latest BIOS firmware, the multi-threaded performance of the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED increased by 10%, at least according to the Cinebench R23 synthetic test. Initially, this laptop model ran firmware version 201, but the current version is 203.
A reviewer at Ultrabook Review stated: "I re-ran the Cinebench test on the laptop after a cold boot. In Cinebench R23, the processor's TDP increased to 50W, but by the end of the test, it had dropped to around 35W. In the 10-minute stress test, the processor's TDP increased to 50W, but stabilized at 28W after 5 minutes of testing. Please note that performance can vary depending on the load and internal temperature. In other words, depending on the environment, the chip may drain power more aggressively and quickly, so the final performance values may differ."
With BIOS firmware version 201, the Core Ultra 7 155H CPU delivered multi-threaded performance scores of 12,357 (best result), 11,342 (after 10 minutes of intensive testing), and single-threaded performance scores of 1,751 in the Cinebench R23 benchmark. After updating the BIOS to version 203, the CPU's multi-threaded performance increased to 13,873 (best result), 12,132 (after 10 minutes of intensive testing), and single-threaded performance reached 1,761.
Overall, the BIOS update did not affect the single-threaded performance of the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H on the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED, with a mere 0.57% increase due to the bug. However, multi-threaded performance increased significantly, with a 12.27% increase compared to best-case results and approximately 7% compared to results from 10-minute stress tests.
The new BIOS version optimizes Intel Meteor Lake's power management, allowing the processor to run longer with higher performance.
