England have announced their preliminary 30-player squad for EURO 2024. Therefore, manager Gareth Southgate will drop four players from the squad once the tournament officially begins.
The England squad is missing a number of well-known stars for various reasons, including Marcus Rashford, Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Jordan Henderson, Kalvin Phillips, Nick Pope, Raheem Sterling, and Jadon Sancho.
Of those excluded, the two most notable cases are Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. While Rashford had a disastrous 2023/2024 season with MU, Jadon Sancho is currently displaying brilliant form, leading Dortmund to the Champions League final.
Conversely, manager Gareth Southgate decided to call up a number of emerging young players such as Kobbie Mainoo, Jarrad Branthwaite, and Jarell Quansah. In addition, the England team patiently waited for key players currently injured, including Harry Maguire, Harry Kane, and Luke Shaw.
Despite the controversial England squad selection, manager Gareth Southgate still has a star-studded team at his disposal, featuring names like Jude Bellingham, Jack Grealish, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, and Phil Foden.
According to the EURO 2024 schedule, England will kick off their Group C campaign against Serbia at 2:00 AM on June 17th (Vietnam time). Following that, Gareth Southgate's team will face Denmark at 11:00 PM on June 20th and Slovenia at 2:00 AM on June 26th.
