On the afternoon of May 25th, many Thai newspapers simultaneously reported that coach Park Hang Seo would be leading Kanchanaburi FC (Thailand) in Thai-League 2. This news came as a surprise to many, as it seemed the South Korean strategist had "retired" since leaving the Vietnamese national team.
According to Thai media reports, coach Park Hang Seo has signed a two-year contract to lead Kanchanaburi, with his salary undisclosed. His primary goal is to help the team regain promotion to Thai-League 1.

However, the former Vietnam national team coach will not be able to directly lead the Thai team in the near future. The reason is that Coach Park Hang Seo will be with South Korea participating in the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Mexico (currently, Mr. Park is the Vice President of the Korean Football Association). Assistant Lee Jung Soo will temporarily take over from Mr. Park in Kanchanaburi.
Since stepping down as head coach of the Vietnamese national team, Park Hang Seo has not coached any team despite receiving numerous offers. The South Korean coach is currently a senior advisor to Bac Ninh FC (First Division) and runs a football academy in Vietnam.
"Although I received offers from many countries, including Vietnam, the reason I chose Thailand is because it's a path that no one has truly succeeded on yet."
"Kanchanaburi's long-term vision and sincerity towards football brought me back and made me want to take on the challenge. I'm giving my all as a football coach in Thailand, Vietnam, and Southeast Asia," Coach Park Hang Seo shared.
