After the match, Argentina's coach Lionel Scaloni said: "Many people probably think we beat Austria easily, but that's not true. Argentina had a very difficult game."
“When Messi missed the penalty, we were shocked. It was a great shot, but the ball went wide. If it had been a goal, it would have been fantastic; the game could have gone in a different direction,” added coach Scaloni.
However, according to coach Scaloni, the fact that the Argentine team overcame the psychological shock after Messi's missed penalty shows that the whole team has made significant progress in terms of morale.
The 48-year-old coach stated: "We went through a difficult few minutes after that incident, but the players quickly regained their composure and good form. This shows that my players have truly matured."

"When Lionel Messi got back in form, the whole team got in form too. We aimed for victory in the way a united team always does. This is a victory for the whole team," coach Scaloni affirmed.
The head coach of the Argentine national team admitted that Austria is a physically strong team. The European team posed considerable difficulties for the reigning world champions, Argentina.
Scaloni stated: “Austria is a very difficult opponent; we had to endure pressure from the Austrian team. I reiterate that this was not an easy match for Argentina. Nevertheless, we have qualified for the next round.”
With Algeria defeating Jordan 2-1 this morning at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, Argentina has secured first place in Group J.
The match between the Tango team and Jordan on June 27th at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington (USA) will only be a formality for both teams, as Jordan has already been officially eliminated.
