Coach Viet Thang is about to coach Cong Phuong.

Unless something changes, coach Nguyen Viet Thang will lead Cong Phuong and Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club in the 2025-2026 First Division League.

Under the guidance of coach Nguyen Anh Duc (first leg) and Huynh Quoc Anh (second leg), Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club finished as runners-up in the 2024-2025 First Division League and secured a spot in the play-off match for promotion to the V-League.

However, they were unable to realize their dream of promotion, losing 0-2to SHB Da Nang, the second-to-last team in the V-League 2024-2025, in the play-off match at Thong Nhat Stadium on June 27th.

Due to the expiration of coach Huynh Quoc Anh's loan contract from SHB Da Nang FC, and also wanting a better coach to continue pursuing their promotion ambitions, Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc FC contacted coach Nguyen Viet Thang to invite him to lead the team in the First Division 2025-2026.

Coach Viet Thang has extensive coaching experience, having previously served as the number one assistant to Coach Philippe Troussier in the Vietnamese national team.

The 44-year-old coach brilliantly led Phu Dong Ninh Binh FC to win the 2024-2025 First Division title three rounds early, securing their promotion to the V-League 2025-2026.

Phù Đổng Ninh Bình Club's achievement was even more impressive, winning the championship with an unbeaten record throughout the tournament (19 wins and 1 draw). This included two victories, 1-0 and 3-0, against Trường Tươi Bình Phước Club.

After parting ways with Phu Dong Ninh Binh FC following the end of the season, Coach Viet Thang went to Japan to attend the second phase of the professional coaching course (Pro license) of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) along with 17 other coaches. Among them was Coach Huynh Quoc Anh.

After being contacted by Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club, Coach Viet Thang accepted the offer. However, the official contract signing between the two parties will only take place after Coach Viet Thang completes the second phase of his Pro coaching course in Japan on July 21st.

Besides reaching an agreement with coach Viet Thang to realize their dream of promotion, Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club has already brought in four new players: Minh Vuong, Le Van Son (Hoang Anh Gia Lai), Xuan Truong (Hong Linh Ha Tinh), and Tran Quang Thinh (Nam Dinh), and will announce the rest soon.
