Before moving on to the in-person interview, the job application is the first thing recruiters use to evaluate candidates. However, to save time, recruiters now accept CVs online.

Below is some information that should be included in an online job application; you can refer to it for further details.

Resume

A resume is a compilation and summary of a person's personal information, education, or work experience, intended to introduce the applicant's personal information and expertise to potential employers.

In the first section of your CV, write your full name and email address. Although your phone number and address are optional, you should include them to make your personal information more complete and to allow the employer to contact you urgently.

Personal products

In online resumes, recruiters are very interested in seeing your past projects and personal work to get a more objective assessment. Fields like Marketing, Engineering, Design, and Communications often require candidates to invest in showcasing their personal projects.

Personal image

A presentable personal photo is a plus when applying for a job, because the applicant's image is the first thing recruiters look at. When choosing a photo for your CV, you should wear formal attire, perhaps light makeup to look fresher, and have neat hair.

Additionally, the face should occupy 50-70% of the photo; avoid using artistic photos or those that obscure the face.

Place where I used to work

This is where you should list the work you've done over the past period. Because this section is of great interest to recruiters, it should be in the upper half of the first page – visible without scrolling down.

You should write your work history in chronological order (most recent first) and list job titles, company names, and dates (you can choose to only include the year or month and year you started and ended each job). Use bullet points to highlight the work you did in your online resume.

Level

You only need to list the name(s) of the school(s), the major, and the graduation date. If you graduated a long time ago, omit the date. You can also include your GPA here, if that score would make a good impression on the employer.

Skill

This is the next crucial section of your online job application. You can list your top skills relevant to the job you're applying for and even group them under a few headings/categories if you think they're important to the industry you're applying to.

Some people may only need 3 to 10 skills, but others might need 20. This depends on how long you've been working and the field you're in.

But note that you should only include things directly related to the job; don't list a series of skills that aren't helpful.
