Yesterday (July 8), HAGL finalized the two remaining foreign player slots to prepare for the upcoming training period in Vietnam and Thailand. Accordingly, HAGL introduced two new Brazilian players - striker Gabriel da Conceiçao (24 years old) and defensive midfielder Khevin Fraga (28 years old).
Gabriel plays as a striker but can also play as a winger when needed. The 1m84 tall striker grew up at Botafogo's academy and has played for Brazilian clubs such as CRB, Figueirense, Marica and Boavista.
Khevin Fraga is 1m92 tall and can play as a central midfielder or center back. Before coming to Vietnam, Fraga played for Hibernians Club (Malta). He played 33 matches, scored 5 goals and 4 assists, and won the 2024 National Cup with the team.
Thus, HAGL Club currently has 4 Brazilian players in the squad (center back Jairo Filho and midfielder Marciel Silva are retained). The addition of a foreign player slot in the new season helps teams with limited forces like HAGL to take advantage of this to mentor young players.
The quartet of Brazilian players are the "backbone" in HAGL's playing style after they said goodbye to five key domestic players: captain Minh Vuong, Chau Ngoc Quang, Dung Quang Nho, Bao Toan and Le Van Son.
Understanding the difficulties, Technical Director Vu Tien Thanh and Coach Le Quang Trai discussed this issue since the V-League 2024 - 2025 season had not yet ended to prepare the team's forces early. Therefore, when the team gathered again on July 5, HAGL had a full force of both domestic and foreign players to check and sign contracts. In addition, HAGL Club also signed a contract with a Brazilian goalkeeper coach to better support young goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien.
Having quickly stabilized its squad, HAGL Club also plans for two upcoming training phases to help new recruits integrate into the general playing style. First, the team will participate in the Thien Long Cup 2025 Friendly Tournament from July 20 to 28 at Tam Ky Stadium with teams from Quang Nam , SHB Da Nang, Ninh Binh, Hong Linh Ha Tinh and Korean students.
After this tournament, HAGL will go to Thailand for 10-12 days of training and play a series of friendly matches there before returning to Vietnam.
