The closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 2024 International Junior Science Olympiad took place on the evening of December 11 in Romania. The Hanoi student delegation representing Vietnam won 5 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal.
This year’s International Junior Science Olympiad attracted more than 300 students from 52 countries and territories. Vietnamese students have participated in this competition 14 times. They took the natural science test in 3 subjects: physics, chemistry, and biology.
Each subject requires students to take 3 exams: an objective test on general knowledge; a theoretical exam requiring skills in synthesis, analysis, autonomy, problem solving, calculation, science, and creativity; and a practical exam requiring skills in using modern tools and machinery.
Information from the Vietnamese student delegation attending the 21st International Junior Science Olympiad in 2024 (IJSO 2024) in Romania said that all 6 Vietnamese students participating won prizes with 5 Silver medals and 1 Bronze medal.
Vietnam achieves high results in 2024 exam
The students who won Silver Medals include: Le Tung Lam, Le Gia Hong Minh, Nguyen Ngoc Que Chi ( Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted), Vu Nhat Long, Vuong Ha Chi (Newton Secondary and High School). The Bronze Medal went to Nguyen Thanh Nhan (Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted).
The 6 students are the most outstanding faces selected from more than 200 students from schools who participated in the selection exam for the team to participate in the International Youth Science Olympiad organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
Through the competitions from 2007 to 2023, the IJSO Hanoi team has always achieved high results with 77 medals, including 16 Gold Medals.
