Mr. Tran Dinh Trach, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association, said: The "Gratitude and Repayment" movement is one of the key contents in the association's annual work program. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Veterans Association directs all levels of the association to coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to organize activities such as visiting, giving gifts, and providing medical examinations and treatment for people with meritorious services; at the same time, organizing propaganda and commemorative activities in practical, economical, focused, and targeted ways, linked to the political tasks in the locality.
Following the implementation of the two-tiered local government model from July 1, 2025, the Provincial Veterans Association continues to coordinate with political and social organizations and mass associations to carry out many activities to express gratitude to meritorious individuals, wounded soldiers, and sick soldiers in the province.
In July, the Provincial Red Cross Society, in coordination with the Provincial Military Command, organized a program to provide free medical examinations, health consultations, medication, and gifts to 160 beneficiaries of social policies in Hoanh Bo ward. Doctors and medical staff conducted in-depth examinations of musculoskeletal, digestive, and respiratory conditions, as well as ultrasound and electrocardiograms, and provided dedicated treatment advice to the residents. Veteran Trieu Duc Linh (71 years old), residing in Khe Len village, Hoanh Bo ward, shared: "I have a history of asthma. Coming here for examinations, consultations, and free medication, I was deeply moved. This activity is truly meaningful and practical for people like us."
In addition, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin has provided regular support to 5 veterans who are victims of Agent Orange, with each receiving 6 million VND per year. The Association also presented 20 gift packages, each worth 1.2 million VND, to 20 veterans affected by Agent Orange in the localities of Hong Gai, Quang La, Quang Yen, Hiep Hoa, and Phong Coc. Although the gifts are not large, they demonstrate the community's concern and sharing with the victims, helping to encourage them to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27th (1947-2025), the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, along with other organizations, Party committees, and local authorities, presented hundreds of gifts of gratitude to policy beneficiary families and meritorious individuals. Veterans' associations in 54 communes, wards, special zones, and units throughout the province also actively participated in activities such as lighting candles of gratitude at martyrs' cemeteries, organizing visits and gift-giving to war invalids, sick soldiers, relatives of martyrs, and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. Many delegations also visited martyrs' cemeteries inside and outside the province, and visited former battlefields to recall the tenacious fighting tradition of previous generations.
Beyond simply paying tribute, the Provincial Veterans Association actively directs its grassroots branches to advise local authorities on the care, maintenance, and upgrading of martyrs' cemeteries. Simultaneously, it mobilizes social resources to repair and build houses for veteran members and families of policy beneficiaries facing difficult circumstances.
The Provincial Veterans Association also collaborates with various sectors and localities to promptly commend exemplary wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, families of martyrs, and meritorious individuals who have overcome difficulties and risen in life, actively participating in patriotic emulation movements. Through this, they promote advanced models in the "Gratitude and Repayment" movement, contributing to better care for policy beneficiary families within the community.
It can be affirmed that the "Gratitude and Repayment" movement of the Quang Ninh Veterans Association is a highly humane activity, spreading the principle of "Drinking water, remembering the source," contributing to alleviating the pain of war and fostering patriotic traditions in today's generations.
