In 2020, the Prime Minister signed Decision 749/QD-TTg approving the National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision to 2030. It emphasized "Promoting digital transformation in enterprises to improve the competitiveness of enterprises and the whole economy " with the goal of the digital economy accounting for 20% of GDP by 2025 and reaching 30% of GDP by 2030. In order to raise social awareness of digital transformation, the Prime Minister decided to choose October 10 every year as National Digital Transformation Day.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung, Deputy Director, Department of Enterprise Development, Ministry of Planning and Investment said that in recent times, as a policy advisory agency for socio-economic development, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has proposed major policies in innovation, digital transformation and sustainable development. The two key tasks that the Ministry of Planning and Investment has implemented include promoting the implementation of digital transformation policies for enterprises according to the law on supporting small and medium enterprises and in particular, on January 7, 2021, the Minister of Planning and Investment issued the Program to support enterprises in digital transformation for the period 2021-2025.

Over the past 4 years, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (Department of Enterprise Development) has focused on popularizing and raising awareness of digital transformation for businesses in 63 provinces and cities across the country. In addition, the Ministry has also carried out in-depth digital transformation support activities such as consulting, training, technology support, etc. Up to now, businesses have had clear changes in their awareness of the necessity of digital transformation. Many businesses have entered the stage of digitizing data, standardizing processes, applying digital technology and moving towards digital transformation on a larger and more synchronous scale.

Not only stopping at simple digital transformation, the trend of digital transformation associated with green transformation towards a sustainable digital economy is one of the mandatory conditions that businesses need to apply. This is also one of the strategic orientations in policy making as well as designing and implementing pilot programs and projects to guide businesses.

From 2021 to present, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has coordinated with ministries, localities, and associations to proactively implement policies to support businesses in digital transformation in accordance with the law on supporting small and medium enterprises as well as mobilizing international resources from many organizations, implementing direct training for nearly 14,200 businesses in 63 provinces and cities; building a network of more than 150 digital transformation consultants to develop a digital ecosystem for businesses; providing in-depth consulting support for more than 400 businesses (about 32,000 expert hours) to build and deploy a digital transformation roadmap, supporting the application of innovative technologies to the management and production processes of businesses; The information portal https://digital.business.gov.vn attracted more than 2 million visits; documents, reports, training videos, and solution information reached about 32,000 downloads; Nearly 5,000 businesses assessed their readiness for digital transformation.

At the same time, coordinate with localities to support localities in issuing programs, projects, resolutions, conferences and seminars so that localities have policies as well as prioritize resource allocation to support businesses in digital transformation.

According to Mr. Dennis Quennet, digital transformation creates many opportunities, enhances activities, and will contribute positively to efforts to reduce emissions. Currently, dual transformation has become a new trend globally, in which digital solutions will be applied to better manage environmental issues, towards green growth and sustainable development. In addition, digital transformation also helps small and medium-sized enterprises improve productivity, more easily find new markets, and thereby enhance competitiveness in the context of strong globalization.

However, digitalization also poses risks related to cybersecurity, data protection and consumer rights issues. We need good management solutions to optimize the benefits and minimize the risks from the digital transformation process. Therefore, with the participation of many representatives from different agencies, it will be an opportunity to discuss and propose solutions to contribute to enhancing digital capacity and skills at different levels, meeting the requirements of digital transformation and digital economy, Mr. Dennis Quennet emphasized.

The conference is an opportunity to listen to exchanges and discussions on trends and digital transformation models in the world, the remarkable development of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, dual transformation and their impact on businesses; Models to support businesses in digital transformation in some countries and lessons learned for Vietnam; Big data and Artificial Intelligence technology: Opportunities and challenges for businesses; Application of AI in Business Administration to increase productivity.
