Over two days, May 30-31, at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village, Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi, the Trade Union of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference to implement several issues related to the reorganization of the Trade Union.

In his opening remarks at the conference, Chairman of the Trade Union of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quan Van Hai, stated that, in accordance with the directives of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Public Employees' Trade Union, the Trade Union of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the conference to implement the streamlining of organizational structures in trade unions at all levels according to Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Many opinions were exchanged at the conference.

At the same time, the topics discussed at the Conference will help the trade union levels within the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in organizing, handing over finances, assets, records, personnel, and implementing the process of closing operations and transferring the trade union in accordance with the directives of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

At the conference, delegates heard a presentation by Ms. Do Hong Van, Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Public Employees' Union, on the topic "Key contents related to the implementation of organizational streamlining in trade unions at all levels in accordance with Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam".

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals for their outstanding achievements in trade union activities in 2024.

Also at the conference, Ms. Do Hong Van directly answered questions from grassroots trade unions regarding the process of streamlining the trade union organizational structure.

On May 28th, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor issued công văn (official document) No. 4173/TLĐ-TOC regarding the reorganization of trade unions in accordance with Conclusion No. 157-KL/TW dated May 25, 2025, of the Politburo, addressed to provincial and centrally-administered city labor federations; central and equivalent industry trade unions; and trade unions of corporations under the General Confederation of Labor.

Accordingly, the process of dissolving the trade union organization and ending the activities of the executive committee, standing committee, and inspection committee mentioned above must be completed before June 15, 2025.

The collection of union dues and union fees for union members and grassroots unions in administrative agencies, public service units receiving 100% of their salaries from the state budget, and the armed forces (not subject to the Vietnam Trade Union's membership) will cease from June 1, 2025.

The Trade Union of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented gifts to express gratitude to former leaders of the Ministry's Trade Union.

Concluding the conference, the Chairman of the Trade Union of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quan Van Hai, requested that the departments under the Ministry's Trade Union proactively coordinate the implementation of guidelines and propaganda, mobilize support, and stabilize the morale of officials, union members, and workers when carrying out the restructuring and streamlining of the organizational apparatus in accordance with the general policies of the Party, the State, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

At the Conference, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded comprehensive and thematic commendation decisions to collectives and individuals under the Trade Union of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for "Outstanding achievements in the emulation movement of excellent labor and building a strong trade union organization" and the emulation movement "Excellent in national work, good in family work" in 2024.
